Rare and out of print for many years now, Profezia‘s Black Misanthropic Elite – Moon Anthem debut is finally back in print via Moribund Records, set for international release on July 24th as a limited-edition A5 digibook. Originally released in 2008, Black Misanthropic Elite – Moon Anthem introduced this Italian black metal cult to the international scene, and soon was spoken of with quiet reverence. Back then, the duo of Kvasir and Vidharr created an extremely cold, resolutely purist form of black metal that breathed the same icy fire that the ancient gods of the early ’90s did. And although Profezia‘s lust for pushing boundaries would blossom years later on the critically acclaimed Moribund album Oracolo Suicida, the conviction displayed – not to mention the utter hypnosis – across Black Misanthropic Elite would serve as an important foundation for one of Italian BM’s very best bands. Tracks 1-6 comprise the Black Misanthropic Elite portion of the album, while track 7 and 8 comprise Moon Anthem, altogether making for stirring spelunking through medieval depths. Cover and tracklisting are as follows:

Altare Productions is proud to present the debut album of Austria’s Nahtrunar, Symbolismus, set for international release on June 22nd
Altare Productions is proud to present the debut album of Austria’s Nahtrunar, Symbolismus, set for international release on June 22nd. One of the best new black metal bands Altare has experienced lately, Nahtrunar excel at a black metal sound that is both classic and individualist, traditional yet boundless. Mixing somber, exceptionally stirring acoustic interludes with cold ‘n’ otherworldly BM of an authentically ’90s vintage, Nahtrunar open portals of the imagination across Symbolismus and allow the listener to roam those hinterlands wildly and at will.Appropriately, Symbolismus is conceptually dedicated to the nights at the turn of the year, known as “Rauhnächte” in old European customs and traditions. These nights are said to be a special period of time in between the years, unlike any period of “regular” time. There is a thick web of myth and superstition around these days and nights: the portal to the netherworld is said to be wide open, all sorts of spirits are awakened, and old gods walk freely among mortal men. Simply stated, the threshold to the dreamworld is blurred. During these nights, dreams and visions are of prophetic quality; a deep sense of reverence is in every move we make, while the earth is cloaked in the longest nights.
The creative material and conceptual fundament which was later on forged into Nahtrunar‘s Symbolismus was received during the winter of 2014/2015, especially during the Rauhnächte and the winter solstice, partly on Austrian soil and partly on travels through wintry Poland, Romania, and Bulgaria. Not all of Nahtrunar‘s lyrics adhere strictly to the Rauhnächte, but this sinister, wild, and magical time is still the flesh, blood, and spirit, of every note and every word on this record. The revised themes are transformation, vision, sacrifice, transcendence, mythology: the deeply spiritual experience of this earth and all the secrets it holds. Experience – empirical knowledge – is a keyword of the worldview portrayed on this album. This does not stand opposed to a rational world view, but rather fills in in places where words fail and reason is nothing but outlandish.
Altare Productions will release a CD version limited to 500 copies, and there will be a special gigipack edition featuring a few extras, limited to 50. Cover and tracklisting are as follows:

Japan’s Barbatos returns with their first album in nearly a decade, Straight Metal War, set for international release on August 7th via Hells Headbangers
At long last, Japan’s Barbatos returns with their first album in nearly a decade, Straight Metal War, set for international release on August 7th via Hells Headbangers. A prolific force on the split-release front,Straight Metal War is Barbatos‘ fifth album to date in 17 years of existence, and their first for Hells Headbangers. Helmed by Abigail mainman Yasuyuki, Barbatos have become cult legends in the metal underground with their uniquely filthy ‘n’ sleazy brand of blackened heavy metal/punk. Possessed by sex, drinks, and metal, Yasuyuki here extols the virtues of high school girls and heavy metal forces, Witching Metal and Tokyo rock ‘n’ roll shows, Satanik Holocausts and of course the very real Straight Metal War. It’s a dozen dirty songs that are immediately memorable, remarkably varied, and whose dirtiness simply won’t wash off. Stock up on ammo and enter the Straight Metal War with Barbatos! Altare Productions is proud to present Dolentia’s highly anticipated second album, Iniciação Eversiva, set for international release on June 22nd
Altare Productions is proud to present Dolentia‘s highly anticipated second album, Iniciação Eversiva, set for international release on June 22nd. Although Portugal is usually known for a more centrist, rather drab black metal scene, in recent years, the country has become home to a cabal of unapologetically raw yet incredibly melodic BM hordes. Through a number of demos, splits, and the subsequent Sob a Égide das Sombras debut album in 2012, Dolentia have pulled into pole position as the leaders of this shadowy scene – and with Iniciação Eversiva, the quartet have laid bare a stark monument of emotive, mystical black metal. Surging forth with cascading waves of ritualism, ghoulish and desperate, Dolentia ensnare the listener right from the very start, and unlike a number of their immediate contemporaries, they have captured a clear yet uncompromised recording, all of which highlight the band’s lyrics written in their native tongue, dealing with death, occultism, witchcraft, Portuguese mysticism, old rituals, old ruins, lost hidden places in the depths of the Portuguese mountains and forests: true pieces of poetry, just like their music, although not entirely accessible to non-Portuguese readers. In every way, Iniciação Eversiva is characteristic Dolentia, but taken to a bolder level, breathing ancient air and exhaling it in ways equally majestic and malignant. The vinyl LP version of Dolentia‘s Iniciação Eversiva was released earlier this year the UK’s Mordgrimm, and that release featured six songs. Now, a CD version will be released by Portugal’s Altare Productions in conjucction with Mordgrimm, and will feature two bonus re-recorded songs from the 2007 demo A Idade da Morte,Liturgia do Sangue e da Agonia: “Lapidis/Sacrificium” (two songs glued together, like the band uses to play live) and “Era Portucalensis.” Cover and tracklisting are as follows:

Perversor long-awaited second album, Anticosmocrator, set for international release on July 27th via Hells Hellbangers on both CD and vinyl LP formats
It’s been seven long years since Perversor released their classic debut album, Cult of Destruction, and four nearly-as-long years since their last EP, The Shadow of Abomination, which Hells Headbangers reissued on a wider scale not long after its initial release – but the Chilean maniacs are as restless ‘n’ wild as ever on their long-awaited second album, Anticosmocrator, set for international release on July 27th via Hells Hellbangers on both CD and vinyl LP formats. Firmly committed to the hellish climes of South American black/death madness, here on Anticosmocrator, Perversor whip up a fury of filthiness and bestiality that could only come from the cult-metal cauldron of Chile. One track detonates after another, with the band seemingly locked into a state of violent possession, each scabrous riff and vocal vomit summoned from a sulfurous pit far beyond the purview of mankind. But through it all, Perversor stay just as committed to the METAL aspect of their black/death madness, thrashing forth with a memorability rooted in the ’80s ways. And the world trembles before the imminent doom of Anticosmocrator… Cover and tracklisting are as follows:

At long last, . Seven long years after their acclaimed debut album for Osmose, Devil’s Mayhem, Blasphemic Cruelty deliver a four-song nuclear warhead that is truly a Crucible of the Infernum. About:
The band is a three piece consisting of Trayne Rekk on Bass/Vocals/Stupidity, TimTim plucking Guitar/Vocals and Jordan Stubbs on Drums. Rarely sober the band’s infectious music invites even the most conservative wall flower to act stupid. One would expect the band to have influences like KISS, SLAYER, and Iron Maiden, but Trayne blames Hank Willams Jr. for much of his blue collar topics.
Puttin’On The Foil’s signature sound starts with Hank Williams, toss in some Ramones, thickened with Motorhead, and a dash of Nashville Pussy gives it that good time feel. Fans can be sure to understand the bands incredibly love of a good time from their music and live shows.
“Shirtless dude in overalls? Check. Long-haired fella in a Canadian Tuxedo? Check. Bottles and blunts? Ok we are ready. Puttin’ on the Foil are Calgary’s premier hillbilly punk act…” – Calgary Is Awesome
“Puttin’ on the Foil’s signature mix of good time country vibes and punk rock intensity make their shows feel more like a Stampede after-party.” – Calgary Journal
“If you are looking for a great philosophical punk album to bring a smile to your face on a bleak day then look no further than ‘Fire Up, Ready to Roll’, from Calgary’s Hillbilly punks, ‘Puttin’ On The Foil’.” – Punk Globe

Vernon, BC blackened death metal band XUL are offering fans a FREE DOWNLOAD of their latest track‘Summon The Swarm’ at the following link here. The track is off their upcoming EP ‘Extinction Necromance’ due out May 19th to follow 2012’s full length ‘Malignance’ (free album download) and is available for pre-order and shirt combos here.
About:
Following in the footsteps of bands such as Behemoth, Dissection, and Immortal, XUL has left the beaten path to forge their own brand of blackened death metal that’s overflowing with crushing rhythms seamlessly coalescing into atmospheric passages and accompanied by a storm of punishing percussion with vicious vocal harmonies to expand on their previous work on Malignance.
This follow up EP ‘Extinction Necromance’ heralds a new age of northern darkness with songs reminiscent of cold lonely tombs, malevolent intent and predatory nature. XUL captivates audiences like light attracts flies as they delve deeper into the maelstrom and build on an already impressive Western Canadian following that has seen them support heavyweights including Obscura, Exhumed, Vreid, Kampfar, Woods of Ypres, Macabre, Withered, Cephalic Carnage, Archspire and 3 Inches of Blood.
#10 of Top 20 Best Albums of 2012 for MetalMadeInCanada.ca
“Xul continue to offer a barrage after barrage of obliterating death metal…when the sheer fire power and dexterous performances that Xul serve up are so satisfying. Particularly when you consider that is the band’s debut album. Malignance is undeniably impressive.” – Powerplay Mag UK
“Malignance, the first record from unsigned Canadian blackened death act Xul, is one of the most impressive debut’s I’ve heard in a very long time. Rarely are the similar artists mentioned in press kits an entirely accurate estimation of the soundscapes to be found within an album proper, but I find the examples of Behemoth and Dissection are quite fitting in this case, as the band excels at weaving the brutality of the former with the epic melodious propensity of the latter, not to mention the grandiosity inherent to both, into a rich and exciting tapestry of extremity.” – Metal-Archives.com
“Vernon British Columbia natives, XUL made their way to Katacombs with one intention in mind – to leave a lasting effect. They did. Influenced by the mighty Behemoth and defunct, Dissection, Xul pulled out all the stops in an insanely intense show characterized by a great sound, guitar hooks and energy that would lay waste to most established bands today! Approx. 50 people were in attendance, give or take a few, but there could have been 10,000 people with the amount of electricity in the air! CONFIDENCE was the adjective on display. They tore through “Summon the Swarm” in such a way that Jon Nodtveidt would have smiled in his grave! Long live Blackened Death Metal. Long Live Xul.” – Live Review – Ondes Chocs
“will appeal to fans of black/death metal. Hard-hitting and brutal, Malignance is intense and that intensity does not let up until the very last song.” – TheFrontRowReport.com
“I loved this album beginning to end, and you can hear the talent that lies there just waiting to come out and greet the world with what XUL has to offer. I can’t wait to hear what they come out with next. I hope some record company comes and grabs these guys because they have a lot to offer the metal community! Look forward to the future with XUL because I know we will be hearing from them again soon.” – Metal Master Kingdom
“Xul operate within the genre of blackened death metal, taking cues from blackened death metal giants like Behemoth, black metal legends like Immortal and Mayhem, as well as death metal demigods like Morbid Angel. They have taken all of these inspirations and combined them into their own artistically highly successful brand of blackened death metal, which features the brutality of death metal and the darkness and evil of black metal. Thus, you get and album the treats you to both the machine-gun bassdrums, guttural vocals, and technically proficient playing associated with death metal and the tense harmonies, tremolo picking, and blazing blastbeats associated with black metal…..Xul’s “Malignance” is a huge artistic success and captures what I consider to be the best from both death metal and black metal.” – Metal Music Archives
“XUL’s “Malignance” is a raging, rolling machine of Black-tinged Death Metal 8/10″ – Metal-Observer
“the band manages to make a sound that encompasses the Death Metal ‘old school’ with the current time style that combines technical, brutality and a very dark mood, as do Belphegor, Behemoth and Azarath. 8/10″ – Whiplash (Brazil)
“Malignance features a stunning display of musicianship with its ultra-slick leads, hyperspeed percussion and incredible bass tone. Meyers’s fetid vocals salivating on the album’s rotting body ties the whole gruesome scene together. Xul wreak “Vengeance” on the ears of death metal fans, forcing their way in the cortex to fester and boil. This is one Malignance you’ll be dying to have.” – Kingdom of Noise
“I love death metal that takes no prisoners.” – Battle Helm
“This blackened death quintet from Vernon, British Columbia does not dissapoint with thier first release, Malignance. The first track sets the pace for the whole album; hard hitting, ear splitting, skull crushing brutality. Battlestorm, indeed! Strong black influences shine through, especially in tracks like Porta Nocis, and Vengeance, while the instrumental Winter’s Reign leaves you spellbound. I have to admit to being really impressed with the amount of work these northern bastards have put into this, and I highly recommend it.” – Canadian Black Metal

The video was shot by director and cinematographer Ben Dundas and visual effects, editing and colour grading by Igor Omodei of the band Uneven Structure. We had a lot of fun developing the plot for this album and can’t wait to see the response from our fans! Fun fact, Nick Xourafas of the band Structures played the role of the lead soldier in the video.” comments guitarist Tom Jakobs.
Drawing comparisons to August Burns Red, Born Of Osiris, and Within The Ruins, TAKE THE THRONE has unleashed two EPs, 2014’s ‘Guardian’, which featured guest appearances by Spencer Charnas of Ice Nine Kills and Fred Beaulieu of Beheading Of A King and 2013’s debut EP ‘Legacy’. TAKE THE THRONE are gearing up for a 2015 packed with more touring, more shows and getting the mosh pit going like a super charged blender. “What impressed me most was that Take The Throne aren’t trying to jam a million different ideas into each song, they know what they do best and stick to it.” – Lambgoat
“Not gonna lie…I loved the fuck out of this song (Deserter). Maybe even more than Thrillhouse enjoys sex with barely legal scene girls. Ok… Maybe not THAT much, but it’s still a brilliant song. Not even once did I find myself thinking “I wish they did this” or “why did they do that”, and I’m eagerly awaiting any further submissions these guys want to send our way.” – I Probably Hate Your Band
Enigmatic Rock Upstarts WITHIN RUST Post New Music Video + Offer Free Download
Vancouver, BC’s WITHIN RUST have posted a new video for their track ‘Interstate’, which is also available for pay what you want download here. ‘Interstate’ is one of many tracks being released on the band’s upcoming yet to be titled debut full length with producer Travis Saunders (Secret and Whisper, Young Sparrows, Jess Penner). The video is a collage of live footage from the band’s summer tour last year across the American West coast.
Lead vocalist/ keyboardist Nolen Scott comments:
“’Interstate’ started as a poorly played ‘The Bends’ era Radiohead type demo I sent to Matt (guitarist), which he and eventually Lewis (drums) and John (bass) then overhauled into a far better song. Lyrically it deals with the disconnect I felt coming home from a summer of touring. I had nobody waiting for me, no purpose and didn’t feel like I’d accomplished a hell of a lot. There was a crushing weight that told me that if we didn’t throw everything we had at these next songs, I’d be dealing with that feeling for the rest of my life. Because of that I knew ‘Interstate’ was the right one to set the tone before we start releasing official singles.”

About:
Within Rust are four guys who started in a Vancouver suburb garage in 2012 blending progressive with alternative rock to write moody and dark, angry and fast, desperate and lost— loveable bipolar songs. Their tracks such as “Rorschach”, a clear ode to 90’s post-hardcore a la At TheDrive In along with “The Taking”, a Killers-esque indie track with a nod to Pink Floyd plus an OkComputer-era Radiohead sensibility with some Rush added to the mix, serves fans with a strange but accessible sonic cocktail not to be missed.

Since early 2011, Grand Prairie, AB’s Arrival of Autumn has been shaking up the Canadian prairies with their heavy riffs, hooky vocals and speed demon double kicks. Their versatile headbanging tunes has made them accessible to fans of rock to the most hardcore death metal moshpit.
A band name inspired by Opeth lyric’s (thanks to drummer Ty Fox) and influenced by various genres ranging from melodic death to groove metal to progressive to rock n’ roll, AOA’s catalogue has grown rapidly with two self-releases in 2014. First it was their debut EP ‘Endless Nights’ in March followed by their ten track full length ‘Shadows’ in September.
“We are just trying to make a record that’s a little different than what’s going on at the moment. It’s no secret there is an abundance of the exact same thing floating around and we would never add to that. We wanted to give them something exciting and different to listen to. The good thing about our album is you can take any 3 songs put them together and it’s great. Our CD doesn’t rely on having only a few good songs. Every song has the potential to be a single. It can be received any way and people will get what AOA is all about.” comments AOA vocalist Ty Fox.
Touching on personal issues to triumphing demons as a band, ‘Shadows’ with a dash of dark lyrics and tracks such as The Court Of Owls to There’s No Angels Here to the infectious chorus of Like Fire demonstrates AOA are not just evolving, but are a live force raging to be discovered by the masses.

Hells Headbangers sets July 24th as the international release date for Destruktor’s highly anticipated second album, Opprobrium
Today, Hells Headbangers sets July 24th as the international release date for Destruktor‘s highly anticipated second album, Opprobrium. The band’s first full-length in six years, Opprobrium follows the warring black/death path laid out on their critically acclaim debut album, Nailed. Since 1997, these Aussie tyrants have been patiently honing a sound that seethes with the war-metalled fire their homeland’s world renowned for, yet over the years finessed with an acute attention to propulsive, immediately memorable songcraft. Nowhere is this more pronounced than on Opprobrium. Across seven swift songs in a lean ‘n’ mean 34 minutes, Destruktor quickly whip up a fury that walks the fine line between chaos and control – neither too blackened, nor too deathly – maintaining the teeth-gnashing gnarliness of their early work whilst exhibiting a startling sense of clarity. That clear-yet crushing production amplifies Destruktor‘s scabrous assault tenfold here, every track a heat-seeking missile until the penultimate closer, “Forever the Blood Shall Flow.” Indeed it shall, as you prepare for the force of Opprobrium… Hear the first missile-launch exclusively HERE. Cover and tracklisting are as follows:
A statement from founding vocalist/guitarist Glenn Destruktor reada: “We believe we have shown once again why Rome wasn’t built in a day. Opprobrium stems from many years of dedication, and was recorded with our longest-standing and strongest lineup to date. The small circle that has been subjected to our Opprobrium believe it a step up from anything we have done before, and it would be very hard for us to disagree. Clearly a Destruktor release, Opprobrium sticks to the formula of the past with total aggression, darkness, heaviness, and riff after riff of extreme metal that clearly sticks to the traditions of those long before. Opprobrium is finally ready for release, and we are looking forward to smashing cunts live, and on your stereo with our new hymns of desecration!”

“Cryptic Hymn’s new single “Revel In Disgust” is a track that touches a type of death metal that is more than just “bash your head in with brutality” but it’s also a showcase of really good musicianship, talent and catchy melodies. They have this slight black metal tone about them but also give us a good punch of death metal, similar to Revocation’s sound. A very good song and I hope this leads into a phenomenal album release!” – Headbang or GTFO
“Brutality is what your eardrums are to expect from this Blackened Death Metal song; with welcomed shades of Thrash for good Metal measure. Today, Finnish funeral doom masters Profetus premiere a new video for “The Dire Womb of Winter” at heavily trafficked web-portal CVLTNation.com. The track hails from Profetus‘ latest album, As All Seasons Die, released last year to critical acclaim by Svart Records. Crushing as ever, As All Seasons Die is a highly visual album…awaiting, as the white cloak of winter falls down, the day’s trespass begins, spring waves break free. The moving shapes of ice, swelling into the northern shores, the green temple of forests, deep into the soul of man. When old watchfires start to kindle at the lakeside, piercing a mind into fathomless distance, cascading into the loneliness of solemn summer nights. The hum of wind in the trees, brief as the days now passed, withering to an early grave. Tears fall, like cold dew on the fields, the mist escapes the autumn shores, soon to join the winters glacial embrace. The spirits are passing home… This is the sound of PROFETUS’ As All Seasons Die: a noble visit to nature’s chapels with four songs of honest, crushing doom metal, drawing inspiration from the down-hearted side of the Scandinavian mind and Finnish nature in all of its beauty, soulful prosperity and ponderous bleakness. Hear/view all this for yourself exclusively HERE, courtesy of CVLTNation.com
SLIPKNOT Guitarist Jim aims for 6TH studio return while band are at top of their game
Guitarist Jim aims for studio return while band are at top of their game
Slipknot guitarist Jim Root wants the band to make their sixth album soon – and he’s already started writing for it.
He believes they should get back into the studio while they’re at their best following the derailment of their career with the death of Paul Gray in 2010, and their return to studio action with last year’s .5: The Gray Chapter.
Root tells the Des Moines Register: “We haven’t been able to do two albums back-to-back since our first one and Iowa.
“We’re at a point in our career where the band is on top of its game. If we take two years or however long away, who knows if we could come back? Someone might decide they want direct or write, or other bands’ projects might take priority.”
He adds: “I plan for the best and expect the worst. I started writing again – hopefully the songs will be on a new Slipknot record. If not, I’ll find something else to do with them.”
Root was fired from Stone Sour in 2013, and describes the experience as “like getting dumped.” But it meant he was able to focus fully on The Gray Chapter.
“It lit a fire under my ass,” he admits. “It definitely made me put my nose to the grindstone and hone my skills a little more.”
Striking while the iron is hottest, Belgium’s Possession return with a brand-new mini-album, 1585-1646, set for international release on June 6th, with Iron Bonehead Productions
Striking while the iron is hottest, Belgium’s Possession return with a brand-new mini-album, 1585-1646, set for international release on June 6th, with Iron Bonehead Productions handling the vinyl pressing and Invictus Productions handling the CD pressing, and today premiere the new track “Ceremony” at heavily trafficked web-portal NoCleanSinging.com. Here, the quartet go from strength to strength, melding the best aspects of their critically acclaimed His Best Deceit demo and the proceeding, even-more-feverishly-received Anneliese EP and then stirring the cauldron more potently ‘n’ poisonously. Forever committed to ancient black/death darkness but still brimming with a youthful fervor that’s blanching to behold, Possession unleash four spells across 1585-1646 that take the churning, teeth-gnashing hysterics of their demo and imbue them with Anneliese‘s haunting, more-dynamic poise. Taken together, the band’s growth over the past two years is startling – seemingly, they can accomplish every diabolical deed they can envision – but not once do they forget the raw, rabid edges so crucial to their formation and especially to black/death metal. Hear the first evidence of such exclusively HERE, courtesy of NoCleanSinging.com.
Through these four tracks, Possession tells the story of a witch who lived in France between 1585 and 1646: on “Obscurity,” an intro sets the crucial medieval atmosphere; with “Visitation,” the future witch receives the visit of the Devil, who offers her a pact she accepts; on “Ceremony” comes the Sabbath; with “Guilty,” the Inquisitors hunt the witch, catch her, and torture her to make her confess; and at last, on “Ablaze,” the Inquisitors burn the witch. Feel the fire of 1585-1646 and be consumed… Cover and tracklisting are as follows:
PARADISE LOST premieres new video for “Beneath Broken Earth” via Decibel Magazine.com
Returning with opus number fourteen, The Plague Within (due to be released June 1st in Europe, June 2nd in North America), PARADISE LOST is once again refining the chemical equation to their sonic alchemy with the kind of creative invincibility few can afford. It’s a collection of songs that will surprise even the most seasoned of fans in its ambition: a monochrome miasma of morbidly uplifting anthems and heart-aching melancholia.
In anticipation of this release, the band has now teamed up with Decibel Magazine.com for the premiere of the new video for “Beneath Broken Earth”, which can be seen here:
PARADISE LOST’s Greg Mackintosh (lead guitar) comments: “I fucking hate metal band performance videos, so when I got told that we needed to do one I was obviously annoyed but then came the idea to do a performance video of utter misery. The slowest song we have ever recorded. ‘Beneath Broken Earth’ is an utterly old school PARADISE LOST doom/death song, and doing a performance video with our miserable, old faces barely moving in a crappy, old basement was too much to resist. The director Ash has done a great job of capturing the somber mood and has managed to make a performance video we can actually be proud of.”
For another preview of The Plague Within, be sure to check out the previously released single, “No Hope In Sight”: https://youtu.be/F7O1z-Vw9Vc
PARADISE LOST will team up with EMP for a very special show on August 17th at the Forum in Bielefeld where the band will play the album live in its entirety for the very first time! The exclusive CD – Ticket – Bundles are only available from emp.de:

Produced by Rob Schnapf (who has also worked with Elliott Smith, Beck and the Vines), Skiba says “I went in with really open and stark ideas, knowing that Rob would breathe life into the very vague ideas I had. I had written progressions and lyrics as well as some leads and key parts, but knew that what I was going to come out of that studio with would be completely different than what I walked in with.”
The result is heard throughout the 10 songs comprising the brilliant KUTS. While the frontman will be touring with Alkaline Trio for the bulk of the spring and summer, he is committed to bringing the new material, and some favorites from Babylon (2012), to life on the stage as his schedule permits.

Torchbearers of Finnish progressive rock Sammal premiere the new track “Muurahaisen päiväunia”at Roadburn.com, the official website of the highly esteemed Roadburn festival. The track hails from the band’s highly anticipated second album, Myrskyvaroitus, set for international release on May 15th via Svart Records. The eponymous debut album of these Finns, who sing in their native language, garnered widespread praise: Classic Rock called Sammal “an impressive, obsessive rendering of 45-year-old dynamics across a set of beguiling and timeless rock melodies” while Decibel called them “a rare prog band that knows when to say when.” Hear their new heights exclusively HERE, courtesy of Roadburn.com.
Last winter, Sammal entered the studio and laid down nine new tracks for Myrskyvaroitus (“Storm Warning”). Whereas the self-titled debut and the band’s other early work had mostly been the work of two people – singer Janu Kiviniemi and guitarist Jura Salmi – with last year’s EP release No 2, Sammal closed the doors on its past. Myrskyvaroitus is very much an ensemble album, and the band worked on the material as a tight-knit unit. The album was mixed and mastered by Jaime Gomez Arellano (Messenger, Hexvessel, Paradise Lost, Ulver) in London.
Says guitarist Salmi, “We decided to get rid of the comparisons to Black Sabbath and Uriah Heep and be just Sammal. As leading influences in the rehearsal room and studio, we had Vangelis, Moody Blues, Scandinavian jazz, and early Turkish progressive psychedelic rock. We are ready for our second coming.”
Digital single “Aika on alkamassa” is available via all digital outlets now and can be heard HERE. The album Myrskyvaroitus is out on May 15th, on CD, LP, and digital formats via Svart Records. The distinctive cover art is by singer Janu Kiviniemi, and all other album artwork by bassist Lasse Ilano. Cover and tracklisting are as follows:

About: A Vancouver born Modern Thrash outfit. Titan’s Eve formed in 2008 by brothers Brian and Kyle Gamblin, with Casey Ory on Drums and later joined by Jesse Hord on bass. From day one the band has written the tunes they want to hear, and taken charge of their musical ambitions on their own terms. The early days saw the 4 piece defining their sound and making fans in their home city.
2009/2010 featured their emergence on the Canadian metal scene and the beginning of a strong fan base. They embarked on their first western Canadian tour and gave Canadians a real live taste of their sound. While gaining support and honing their music they ventured into a local studio with the talented Curt Wells. Their first album “The Divine Equal” was later mixed and mastered by Sacha Laskow of Calgary Tech-metal band Divinity. With the release and critical acclaim the album received, their first Cross-Canadian tour followed exposing even more to their unique brand of thrash metal.
2011 saw “The Divine Equal released to a bigger audience, with a 2 month self booked tour of North America. Titan’s Eve had the pleasure to play in front of crazed metal fans all over the United States. 2012 started with a bang with their first arena show and fulfilling a dream of playing with Nu-metal leaders Korn. Fresh of the success from their debut, Titan’s Eve began creating the follow up, “Life Apocalypse”. “This album was written faster and was more of an aggressive attempt at writing and recording an album,” says guitarist Kyle Gamblin. “We hammered out the songs and bunkered down to record in Calgary with Sacha Laskow for a month and recorded every day.”
Taking a turn from their debut, which was released a year previously, but staying true to their personal interpretations of honest, powerful modern metal, “the result, Life Apocalypse, shows our efforts and captures the best performances from all four members of our band. We worked very hard to deliver something that wouldn’t disappoint fans of our last album,” says Brian Gamblin.
Following the release of Life Apocalypse that summer, Titans Eve took the “Titan Train” (i.e. their 2007 Ford E-350 van) and travelled across western Canada, bringing their music to as great an audience as possible, supporting Canadian metal heavyweights Anvil followed by a tour with super-group Kill Devil Hill featuring Rex Brown of pantera. After these incredible tours, they’re biggest venture yet came into focus with an invite to be a support act on the Arch Enemy European Khaos tour. This saw their first tour in Europe, playing to the receptive and enthusiastic European metal crowds.
2013-14 had been used for writing and recording their third album, with breaks from the rehearsals by touring westeren Canada, playing music festivals and opening for the likes of Diamoned Head, Raven and soulfly. The album was recorded in Vancouver’s legendary Warehouse Studio with renowned producer and engineer Eric Mosher. The mastering was completed by Canadian metal hero Jeff Waters of Annihilator.
Stay tuned for a new album and new tours in 2015!

“Titans Eve has quickly risen through the ranks of the Vancouver metal scene, quickly becoming one of the best thrash bands in town.” – Absolute Underground Magazine
“The Gamblin brothers shred like crazy, easily making Titans Eve one of the best local (Vancouver) thrash bands. They really blew everyone away, and sent beer flying all over the place.” – Absolute Underground Magazine (Live Review)
“Titans Eve churned out their own unique brand of thrash metal. Brothers Kyle and Brian Gamblin did a great job stirring up the crowd,… With a short but sweet set with crowd favourites including “The Tides of Doom”, “Serpent Rising”, “Into the Fire” and “Living Lifeless,” Titans Eve left it all on stage and made a strong impression.” – Abort Mag (Live Review)
“Gotta love bands like this that come from left field and surprise one with their sound, attitude and imagery. Titans Eve hails from Vancouver, hardly a global metal hotspot, and performs traditional and true heavy metal without any of the superfluous gimmickry that has become a hallmark of metal betrayal and ineptitude. The quartet’s sound is heavy and anthemic and blatantly related to the true sounds of Priest, Maiden and Arch Enemy” – Metallian.com
“Titans Eve had everything that was needed to make for a killer show; solid memorable music that can move even the folks who are unfamiliar with the songs, backed by a tight, powerful performance. ” – Metalstorm.net (Live Review)
“TITANS EVE have embraced the old fashioned Thrash ethic of keeping an eye on quality and not going overboard with content. ” – Metal-Observer.com
“The Canadians’ sophomore retains the thrash shapes of their debut but also allows more room for melody and lyricism to flow, adding an emotive strength to the introspective tales of the human condition, destiny and personal struggle…if the Mayans were right and 2012 is the year we face the apocalypse, Titans Eve are more than an adequate soundtrack.” 4/5 – Terrorizer Mag
“One metal act that should be hitting your radar if it hasn’t already is Canadian thrashers TITANS EVE…The sophomore album from TITANS EVE, “Life Apocalypse” is a tempest. It seldom slows and it’s to the band’s credit they know how far to push and make a statement then summon back their typhoon to leave their listeners breathless…”Overcast”, “Destined to Die”, “Road to Ruin”, “Divided We Fall” and”The Abyss” are some of the fastest and fiercest metal tracks you’ll hear this year.” Blabbermouth.net
“Best of all, the hooks on this record are enormous, with none of the eleven tracks feeling like a throwaway. The tunes are so insistent and contagious that it feels like they fly by: you’ve got the Mastodonian stomp of “Destined to Die”, the Maiden-esque guitar melody that sneaks into the thunderous “Road to Ruin”, the melodic thrash of “The Abyss”, the crushing mid-tempo groove that dominates the chorus of “Life Apocalypse.” – MSN.com
“Vancouver’s TITANS EVE have really hit a sweet spot with their second album. ” – Bravewords.com
“Vancouver-based thrashers Titans Eve strike the perfect balance between tuneful, old-school, ’80s–style metal and the more extreme variants that came to dominate in the ’90s on its latest, Life Apocalypse. ” – The Georgia Straight (Vancouver, BC Weekly)
“In an age where a plethora of thrash bands are focussing all their energies on trying to recapture the sounds of the 80’s, it’s great to hear a forward thinking, ambitious thrash metal outfit. Canadian Titans Eve have all the essential thrash ingredients in their sound, but they’re trying to forge something original in those flames. Their songs are laced with robust melody, captivating guitar-intricacies, and truly memorable and striking passages, while the powerful vocals of Brian Gamblin provide an imposing focal point. Titans Eve are a genuinely exciting proposition, and Life Apocalypse is quite a superb album deserving of much recognition. 4.5/5″ – Zero Tolerance Magazine

Their latest album, In The Minds Of Evil, came out in late 2013 via Century Media to critical acclaim. For a preview of In The Minds Of Evil, fans can check out the video for “End the Wrath of God”:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hOYXgRzkl2k
ENTOMBED A.D. will be touring in support of their recently released album, Back To The Front.

The future looks soaking brutal!”.

Listen up! You want mosh happy crossover-thrash from another planet? Fast riffs? Rippin’ solos? Then stop giving a fuck what other people think and prepare for some neck aerobics from Montreal, QC’s MUTANK!
Formed when three Newfoundlanders crossed paths in the Canadian heavy metal capital with Ahmed Saad who hails from the Middle East, the injection of music immediately began to flow through their veins and M.E.C.H. metal was soon born.
“It stands for Middle East Coast Heavy Metal; Our drummer being from the Middle East and the rest of the members being from the east coast of Canada,” explains Stephen Reynolds (bass, vocals).
It also just so happens to be the title of the band’s debut album ‘M.E.C.H. Metal’, which features eight monumental thrash tracks that will either make you want to punch something or just plain dance while delivering thoughtful, honest lyrics for those who wish to look deeper.
“Every single person in this band is a songwriter, so the songs come out with their own feel and develop naturally.’ continues Reynolds. ‘We don’t shackle ourselves to any kind of focused idea, which brings about a sort of honesty in the music not often found in metal.’
M.E.C.H. Metal was unleashed on February 1, 2014 with the video ‘Heavy Hand of The Doomsday Clock‘ and is available on the band’s bandcamp here.
Quick Fact: MUTANK are the 2014 Wacken Metal Battle Canada Champions being judged by industry music reps #1 out of over 100 Canadian bands to rep Canada at the international Metal Battle in Wacken, Germany during 2014’s Wacken Open Air Fest (the largest in the world).

“they play good-natured thrash a la Overkill and Exodus… perfectly serviceable and enjoyable, definitely more effective when they are playing fast.” – Decibel Mag
“WAR is a vicious sonic attack… [M.E.C.H. Metal] it’s a ferocious delight.” – Powerplay Magazine UK
“[MUTANK] fuse old school speed metal and present day crossover thrash into one package of fun.” – Metalhorizons
“MUTANK is like a Coffee Crisp bar: crunchy as hell, and without any gooey center.” – Bucket List Music Reviews
“Fans of old school speed metal and more metallically oriented crossover thrash should check out the compact and intense 25-minute speedbomb that is “M.E.C.H. Metal”.” – Metal Music Archives
“I personally think [M.E.C.H. Metal] could be contender for best album of the year!”- High Speed Hangover
“M.E.C.H. Metal is fast. Of course, the dual guitars’ riffs are aggressive and complementary; and drums are as constant as the caterpillars tracks of a tank; but the album gets its real flavour via the pace of the songs and their short and simple structure. Ranging from 1:57 to 4:03, this is an album that explodes in our face in less than 25 minutes, with a remarkable intensity.” – Metal Made In Canada

“Today Helleborus introduces two of our live ritual performance members. We are closer now to bringing our magic live and our rehearsals are flowing faster than expected. It will be some time still before we hit the stage, but the hunger is becoming more real. More news and members will be announced soon.” comments vocalist / lyricist Wyatt Houseman.
Named after a gorgeous, but poisonous flower that blooms in winter, Helleborus pushes their creative freedom to new levels as the psychedelic black metal project is Dionysian in nature and explores themes of sexual mysticism, Qabalah & the Esoteric. For their debut to the metal world, the band has unleashed a free download of their track’Coils’ available at the following link on NoCleanSinging.com here.
‘Coils’ is one of many songs the brothers plan to unleash on their soon to be finished debut full length ‘The Carnal Sabbath’, a release that combines black, death and doom metal with a vast ambiance. Venturing outside the conventional colors of traditional black metal, Jerred & Wyatt plan to deliver a new aura of sound where fans of The Devil’s Blood, Satyricon, Necorphobic, Belphegor, Blut Aus Nord are sure to connect with them.

MORGOTH premieres “Traitor” video via Decibel Magazine.com
Having recently released their first full-length in almost two decades and “the album fans have been waiting for” (EXCLAIM.ca), German death metal legends MORGOTH are now ready to unleash a new video from the critically acclaimed Ungod! Debuting today via Decibel Magazine.com, the official promo clip for “Traitor” can be viewed below:
MORGOTH’s Harry Busse (guitar) comments: “The first idea that existed for ‘Traitor’ was the marching riff you find in the verse of the song. After we wrote the bridge and the chorus, the song was almost finished from its instrumental side. I still had no idea in which direction the lyrics should go. Only when Sebastian came up with the clean guitar, that introduces and completes the song, did I have the idea for a theme that would perfectly match the sadness and desperation of this interlude, followed by the brutality and mercilessness of the song itself. A child soldier, betrayed by the ones supposed to protect him, betrayed by the “Traitor’.”
Ungod is available as a standard CD, a limited Digipak with extended booklet and two bonus tracks, an LP (180 g vinyl, printed inner sleeve), as well as a digital download/stream. The LP is available in the following variations:

Ozzy tells press conference they aren’t done yet – but adds that the plans “could change”
Black Sabbath’s farewell looks as though it won’t take place until 2016, according to frontman Ozzy Osbourne.
And Ozzy has since confirmed comments he made last year that Sabbath would record a final album to follow up 2013’s 13 and head out on a farewell tour. And he says that whatever happens with Sabbath, his solo career will continue.
He tells a press conference at Monsters Of Rock in Brazil: “The plan is that next year we’ll do the final Black Sabbath tour and album. I’m not stopping… my wife spends all my money so I can’t.”
Ozzy says that the plans “could change,” and adds: “We all live in different countries and some of them want to work and some of them don’t want to, I believe. But we are going to do another tour together.”
In the first episode of our series Under the Influence, we go from the streets of the Lower East Side all the way to South Korea to examine one of the most distinctive genres to sprout from the concrete of New York City: hardcore. Along the way, we’ll meet with everyone from tattoo shop owners to chefs to government workers—all of whom have been inspired by the teachings at musical meccas like CBGB’s and A7 and found ways to apply the lessons learned from the scene to their own lives. Join us—as well as members of Agnostic Front, Title Fight, Youth of Today, Incendiary, and more—as we explore a world living under the influence of New York Hardcore.

The band, born in 2014 by Liam (vocals), Eric (bass) and Ross (drums), was formed to help prove to the world that heavy metal is still going strong even in this modern day. After two years of writing and polishing their sound, as well as the inclusion of two powerhouse guitar players Gary and Brett, they finally began to prove what they’re made of to the live audiences throughout Abbotsford and Vancouver. The response: a roaring crowd.
When Ross joined the band he brought in a unique flavor of drumming, influenced by both System of a Down and Foo Fighters. With this, and Liam’s own Metal Church-esque style of writing, they created the perfect combination of powerful-fast riffs.
Though they love playing in Vancouver and Abbotsford, Medevil have their minds set on the horizon. To enjoy the energy of playing live and treating the world to their original and unique brand of metal is what they are built to do. They continue to work hard and pursue their ambitious dream.

NORDHEIM
Hometown: Lévis, Québec
Members: Warraxe – Vocals and Rythm Guitars, Fred – Lead Guitars BenFok – Bass and Back Vocals, Loup – Keyboard, Lucas – Drum
Genre: Folk Metal
Bio: Everything started on a particularly not very eventful night back in 2006. Warraxe and Benfok started to create what would eventually be known as “Far Away”. After the first draft of a song that seems to kick some ass, the 2 men decided it was time to push the project further so they started their quest to find other musicians to complete the band. That quest was long and hard because these musicians not only needed to be serious and talented, they also needed to be compatible with the inferior brains of Warraxe and Benfok. Freydrick was the first one to join the troops….armed with his blonde beard” Then came the protector of thy unholy keyboard, Dark Dreamer, whose evil was just so… evil. Other musicians joined the band as well but due to conflicting schedule, they went on some other path. The horde was almost complete. Warraxe chose the path of the guitar player/singer and his brother-in-law chose the keyboard but a drummer was still missing.
Then from the frozen guts of Hiverna, a troll named Bardunor rose and joined the horde. Unfortunately this troll had to go back to his cave but his quest with the braves folks from Nordheim is not completed… some beer barrels still needs to be drank….but that’s another tale. Then a very old friend came out of the shadows and claimed: ” I can play drums…I can play fuc**ng fast!”. So Phil Poul joined and replace Bardunnor. He contributed to the demo and to the first album ” Lost In The North”. Some years passed but in 2011, Phil Poul departed from the band, opening the door for a Red Bearded Viking, the seducing Lucas Biron (Kälter) who joined the barbarian brotherhood. They then loaded the longship and started the quest for their next barrel of potion called “Refill”. Soon after the release of the second album, Thom, the brother-in-law of Warraxe had to leave in order to fight the stone cold armies of the east. But during the summer of 2014, they heard a far away howl…followed by some notes from a piano…
These notes came from a young wolf called the Loup-Gab of America. Since then, the band is complete. Nordheim is ready to sail through many perilous travels aboard their troll longship!
Bio: The cloudy beginnings of VESPERIA lay etched in the gorged bodies of former musical projects among the now 4 piece band. Twisting, writhing and forcing their aural onslaught upon metal audiences across the globe have sincerely ensured the band’s continuity through all the harsh and arduous battles modern metal bands are sure to encounter in their tenures.
Originally formed in 2005 by lead vocalist/ bassist Morgan Rider as a black metal band, the sound, direction and theme of the music naturally evolved into the style of fierce and heroic metal the band is now known for. Shortly after releasing their long overdue brand melodic metal 2011 full-length ‘Voyage from Vinland’, VESPERIA redefined their purpose and direction once and finally with their 2012 demo ‘The Swordsman’ and 2013 full-length ‘An Olden Tale’, drawing the ears and attention of metal fans around the world and demonstrating their true mastery of their craft.
With the most fierce music written to date and a bounty of opportunity awaiting, VESPERIA hungrily eye 2015 as the year they will make their mark upon the Earth.

DEMONCY SET FOR INTERNATIONAL RELEASE ON FOREVER PLAGUED RECORDS
Following the special digipack reissue of their classic Joined in Darkness, Forever Plagued Records is proud to present yet another special Demoncy release: Empire of the Fallen Angel (Eternal Black Dominion), set for international release on June 29th on both CD and vinyl LP formats. Although originally released in 2003 after years of mysterious silence, the renamed Empire of the Fallen Angel (Eternal Black Dominion) is an ENTIRELY NEW AND DIFFERENT recording. Whereas the original 2003 album was recorded with a full band lineup, this Empire of the Fallen Angel (Eternal Black Dominion) was recorded solely by Demoncy founder Ixithra, with the first four tracks being entirely new compositions. As ever, Empire of the Fallen Angel (Eternal Black Dominion) bleeds the black blood of Ixithra’s ever-idiosyncratic, ever-challenging vision, but now the original compositions are stripped down to slower, more ritualistic tempos and the production’s mercilessly primitive. The hallmarks of the ’90s Demoncy sound – ritualistic pulse, bulldozing tones, whispers from beyond – are all in place here, amplified by a diabolic desire by Ixithra to take Empire of the Fallen Angel back to its primordial beginnings. Thus, with this new Empire of the Fallen Angel (Eternal Black Dominion), the faithful are rewarded with a true follow-up to 1999’s landmark Joined in Darkness. Cover and track listing are as follows:

Canadian Neo Rock Nerds DOUBLE EXPERIENCE Post Cover Lords of The Rings Song ‘Edge of Night’ + UK Tour Dates (May/June)
L-R Brock Tinsley (Guitar) – Ian Nichols (Vocal, Bass) – Dafydd Cartwright (Drum) – Photo Credit – Vicky Kao
Canadian neo-rock nerds DOUBLE EXPERIENCE have posted their rendition of “The Edge of Night”, originally performed by Pippin (Billy Boyd) to Denethor II (John Noble) in The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King.
“When Double Experience performs and one of the band members has to change instruments or tune up, the others will sneak in a cover like this to break the silence and amuse ourselves. Ian and I hadn’t made a goofy video like this in a long time, so we figured it would be the perfect way to encapsulate a memory our fans may have had of our live show.” comments guitarist Brock Tinsley.
In additional news, after a busy 2014 that saw DOUBLE EXPERIENCE tour across the United Kingdom (tour recap on PureGrainAudio.com here) along with dates in the USA and Canada in promotion of last year’s debut album‘721835’. The band is proud to announce they will be returning to the UK for dates in May and June (which will include new drummer Dafydd Cartwright) following their tour of Eastern Canada that also includes a performance at Anachronik Fest in Montreal, QC.
About:
Over the last few years, the Ottawa, ON based rock nerds have toured across Canada six times, twice in the UK and the States, performing 500+ shows over 100,000 miles and sharing the stage with such acts as Silverstein, Hawthorne Heights, Every Time I Die, Dead and Divine, Lifestory:Monologue to name a few. Their new album ‘721835’ is a curious collection of songs that are inspired by everything the band loves and considers nerdy. Showcasing a creative sound influenced by geeky comic books, trading cards, classic 8 bits games to today’s future 3D experiences, the album follows up their 2011 EP ‘One Big Quicksand’ recorded and produced by Jayson DeZuzio (Coheed and Cambria, My Chemical Romance) that was released viaBlue Sapphire/Universal Music Canada.
Coming off an exhaustive six month US/Mexican/Canadian tour in support of their latest EP ‘Punk, Zombie, Rock n’ Roll’, which was also accompanied by a comic book created by vocalist/guitarist Dusty Exner (free download here), zombie hunting punks Kill Matilda are proud to announce they will be showcasing at this year’s Canadian Music Week onSaturday, May 2nd at Bovine Sex Club.
“We are excited to be playing Canadian Music Week for the first time ever! After 6 months living in a van and touring the US being home and being part of this event is awesome. Our showcase is going to knock your socks off, so come prepared!” comments vocalist / guitarist Dusty Exner.
Following the showcase, Kill Matilda plan to work on the fall release of their new “Songs of Survival” EP recorded by Garth Richardson, which will be supported by a world tour beginning in September 2015 and will span across Europe, Canada, the US and Mexico.
Track Listing: #Punk#Zombie#RocknRoll
1. Pomegranate
2. I Want Revenge
3. Zombie Apocalypse
4. Law Abiding Citizen
5. PBJ
6. Geisha With A Switchblade (Acoustic)
“Kill Matilda may be the best punk band you haven’t heard of. Based out of Canada and solely a DIY band, it’s very possible this female-fronted fist full of punk fury has flown under your radar. Not anymore, though. Their latest release, the #Punk#Zombie#RocknRoll EP is a throwback to the classic punk movement with a little bit of horror rock mixed in, serving as an impressive tribute to The Misfits (not that new “Misfits” crap- the real Misfits).” – The Front Row Report
“Opening up with Pomegranate and through to I Want Revenge hints of The Misfits and The Cramps instantly emerge from this vigorous group. Zombie Apocalypse and Law Abiding Citizen continue the mayhem through to the penultimate track PBJ which typifies your current day zombie. What really caught my attention was the final track Geisha With A Switchblade, this is a powerful depictive of the ultimate in revenge to a bad guy whilst enjoying every last detail. Check below the new video for Law Abiding Citizen and enjoy, if you’re nearby any venues these guys are tearing then get yourself down for a set of carnage!” All About The Rock UK
“I can’t say enough good things about this 6 track EP from KILL MATILDA. This is one of those gems that you’ll be happy you found early enough before their RISE amongst the LIVING! Check em out” – Heavy Metal ICU
“this is a fresh and exciting burst of musical energy that looks forward to the future rather than to late-90s nonsense. From the start, I loved the power of Dusty Exner’s voice. She can scream with the best of them, but—lucky for us—can also carry a tune.” – Sea of Tranquility
“A six track extended player crashed landed in my inbox like a bull in a china shop thanks to a Punk Rock outfit called Kill Matilda… The title of this E.P. is “#Punk#Zombie#RocknRoll” and it takes no prisoners!” – Rockulus Maximus
“if there’s one thing thing guaranteed to wake the slumbering beast from the annual hibernation it’s some gravelly voiced and quite frankly excellent punk. If you like Hole, The Misfits or The Offspring (and Yeah, Yeah Yeahs,) and let’s face it who doesn’t, then these guys are right up your alley…down and dirty punk with sexy riffs and a promise of blood, fists and stomping buy this on March 4th. You won’t regret it.” – Wyrd Ways Show Review
“The EP is packed full of high energy, powerful tracks. I personally find that the band makes you feel like you are at their show, rocking out with them. It’s a mix of songs that gives you chills and makes you feel empowered by just listening.” – Canadian Beats
Today, Austrian black metal pillars Amestigon premier the new track “Demiurg” at heavily trafficked web-portal InvisibleOranges.com. The track hails from the band’s monumental second album, Thier, set for international release on May 28th.A sprawling, wholly intoxicating mass of metaphysical might and mystical atmosphere, Thier comprises four vast, void-dwelling expanses of obsidian sound, with each track in the double digits and the title track itself topping nearly 20 minutes. And yet, every second of the way, Amestigon weave spells that draw in the listener and literally drowns them with dense, patiently evolving layers of otherworldly decibels wrought from mere strings, synth, and drums.
It’s a form of sonic alchemy, one that the band has explored during their on/off career since the mid 1990s, but never have Amestigon sounded so potent as they do on Thier. Longtime listeners can cite the album as authentic to the original wave of ’90s black metal; however, the band are restless sonic sorcerers and repeating themselves is never an option, so new landscapes of the mind and spirit are sown on this second full-length. From artwork to lyrics to the sound production itself, there is a totality of experience to Thier, and Amestigon willingly offer four keys to the beyond. Liberation is yours for the taking. Drink deeply exclusively HERE, courtesy of InvisibleOranges.com. Cover and tracklisting are as follows:

Amestigon was founded in 1995 by Tharen and Thurisaz. Since the release of the first demos, Through the Ages We Preserve… and Mysterious Realms, members of Abigor regularly contributed to the recordings as guest musicians. After releasing the two demos, a split CD with the Austrian folk metal band Angizia, and the MCD Höllentanz, the members of Amestigon parted ways, citing personal reasons as well as the lack of a steady lineup. This separation also marked the end of Amestigon‘s cooperation with Napalm Records, who had originally signed the band.In 1998, Tharen wanted to involve himself once again in the black metal realm, so he gave the band new life. He got in contact with Herr Wolf, who joined Amestigon in the winter of the same year. Only a short time later, Lanz completed the lineup. By that time, Silenius also showed interest and was invited to be a steady guest musician for Amestigon releases. Thurisaz left the band and joined Abigor on vocals and bass guitar. Amestigon produced a promotional CD with old and unreleased material in 2000, Remembering Ancient Origins, which was limited to 100 copies and sold without any professional distribution. In 2002, Millenium Metal Music released a split CD with Hellbound. The four-song Amestigon part was called Nebelung 1384. In May 2009, Amestigon finished the production of Sun of All Suns, which was the first full-length album in the history of the band. The base is black metal in the original vein, but the songs also featured various other musical influences. Thematically, the album was very physical, located between the occult and taboo, sociopathy and abuse. As big vinyl fans, the members of Amestigon are very proud that W.T.C. Productions will release Sun of All Suns on vinyl during summer 2015. It will include a special vinyl master, different artwork, and the bonus track “Invocation of my Demon Brother.” Furthermore, Amestigon joined the ranks of W.T.C.Productions for the release of their second full-length album, Thier. It will be released on DLP with an etching on the fourth side and on CD in jewelcase. On Thier, there is a conceptual shift to the metaphysical level. This second full-length release is all about creation, magick, and will.
Sabbath Assembly and Christian Mistress are hitting the road together this summer in an unholy alliance up the west coast of the United States, entitled the “From Darkness to Darkness” tour. If there was ever a tour that fit into the “we’re on a mission from god” category, this is it; we just can’t figure out which deity to thank for making this happen.
While Sabbath Assembly will be performing songs from all three of its albums, half the set will present tracks from their forthcoming self-titled album out this September on Svart Records. The new tracks are more metal in tone, thanks in large part to guitarist Kevin Hufnagel (Dysrhythmia, Gorguts), who will be onstage with the band at these shows.Christian Mistress will play new riffs from their third album, To Your Death, out on Relapse Records this September along with songs from past releases Possession and Agony and Opium and do swear to bring the true heavy metal to the stage as always! Amplifier hit the road in the UK this week for a string of dates with stoner-rockers Black Moth, and to celebrate, the band are launching a brand new video for the track “Black Rainbow” from last year’sMystoria album. Filmed at the bands intimate London show at The Old Blue Last in March, it captures the band at their rocking best.
The world’s loudest rock magazine Revolver is premiering Vancouver thrash outfit Titans Eve‘s first single ‘War Path’ from the band’s upcoming album ‘Chasing The Devil’due out on June 12th. The single is their anthemic title, which gives listeners a taste of what is yet to come from the rest of their eight song LP. Sitting at track number two on the full length it carries the weight of an Eric Mosher(AC/DC,Buckcherry) engineered song with the layered mastering from Jeff Waters(Annihilator). The group continues to utilize their background touring with larger acts and embedding aspects of stadium-esque sing along anthems into their newer material. Revolver Magazine is the new home for the exclusive premier ‘War Path’ and the band wishes listeners happy headbanging.
“This song is about being forced to fight for something you don’t believe in and having no control over your destiny, but trying to find the courage to do what you know is the right thing.” comments vocalist/ guitarist Brian Gamblin.

Nearly 6000 Ayreon fans from 49 different countries will flock to Rotterdam (NL) this September to witness the once-in-a-lifetime theater production ‘The Theater Equation‘ based on Ayreon’s The Human Equation. The album’s original vocalists James LaBrie, Devon Graves, Heather Findlay, Eric Clayton, Marcela Bovio, Magnus Ekwall and Irene Jansen will reprise their roles on 18th, 19th and 20th of September in the nieuwe Luxor theater. Rounding out the cast are Ayreon veterans Wudstik, Anneke van Giersbergen and Mike Mills.
For years fans of Arjen Anthony Lucassen‘s rock operas have begged for a live performance. The creative team of Shadow Freaks, a theater production company lead by Lucassen’s former manager Yvette Boertje, now answers that call by staging a fan favorite; ‘The Human Equation‘.
The Human Equation tells the story of comatose man who battles his emotions that have come to life in a frightening and bizarre world: his own mind. After a 20-day emotional rollercoaster ride filled with good and bad memories, shocking revelations and hope-filled desires, the man has to make a decision: wake up or die?
The band features some of Lucassen’s finest guest musicians: Ed Warby, Johan van Stratum, Jeroen Goossens, Ben Mathot and Maaike Peterse. Joost van den Broek is music director and arranger for the band that also features Marcel Coenen, Freek Gielen, Erik van Ittersum and Ruben Wijga. The Epic Rock Choir, assembled especially for this show, will bring an extra dimension to this production as a finishing touch.
The Theater Equation’s spectacular cast, band, stage design and costumes promise to turn this production into the prog event of 2015! The first three shows sold out so fast, that a fourth (and final) show was added later. Tickets for this show are available now via www.thetheaterequation.com

Today, cinematic doom/Western-noir troupe Aelter stream the entirety of their highly anticipated fourth album, Aelter IV: Love Eternal – out now on via Pesanta Urfolk –
Heavily trafficked web-portal HammerSmashedSound.com. Aelter is one of several side-projects to emerge from the Wolvserpent camp, and uniquely known for a cinematically dreary dreamscape of doom-inspired darkness. Over the course of three albums, Aelter has steadily evolved from the minimal, wide-open expanses of sound – found on 2009’s debut Dusk Dawn and 2010’s Aelter II: Follow You Beloved (collected together by Crucial Blast in 2011) – to the strange ambient-influenced slowcore first suggested by 2011’s critically acclaimed Aelter III and now reaching its fullest fruition on Aelter IV. With bewitching ease, Aelter IV has fully embraced a shadow-cast landscape of gothic Western folk music and hypnotic darkwave pop – but “gothic” in the literary sense, and “pop” stripped of any chart aspirations. It’s a sublime and slowly unfolding experience, moving further away from fuzzed-out guitars and into the melancholic melodies of songwriter noir. References to be made number later Swans, Red House Painters, Lycia, Crime and the City Solution, and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds’ more reined-in work, but Aelter‘s acute attention to texture and tension place this current incarnation into a league of its own. By the album’s cathartic end, Aelter IV: Love Eternal emerges as a hauntingly atmospheric and crushing piece of dark romantic Americana. Hear all of Aelter‘s intoxicating spells exclusively HERE, courtesy of HammerSmashedSound.com.
The Tangent New album
‘A Spark in the Aether’ out today.
InsideOut is proud to announce the US release of The Tangent’s eighth album, A Spark in the Aether. The album is released in North America today, April 21st.

In a recent interview with The Prog Report,Tangent frontman Andy Tillison talks about his bittersweet ode to Progressive Rock with new song “Codpieces and Capes”, a tongue-in-cheek look back at Prog circa the 1970’s.
Here, Tillison tells the story behind the 12-minute trip down memory lane, which includes nods to Jethro Tull, Yes and even current Prog masters like Neal Morse.
“A lot of people in the media just think straightaway of the guy the with the codpiece and the flute, that’s Ian Anderson, and capes is of course Rick Wakeman and his keyboards rig. I absolutely am a complete Prog rock nut, I love the music. Of course, there’s lots of things that make you embarrassed about it, like people wearing capes and codpieces and driving around in three trucks with their names on the top, all these bonkers things they did when they were really rich and were kind of medieval princes in Europe. It was a weird time, very young men with a lot of money. You have to disengage yourself from how much you love it to be able to look and say there was some of it that was really shit. Finding the good stuff is the secret, of course.”
Tillison says the song calls out the legendary groups of the ’70s for not recognizing many of the groups that carry the torch for Prog today.
“It’s a bit nostalgic looking back at the music that formed our early lives. There’s another part in the song where I’m actually looking at the fact that those guys don’t very often come and stand alongside us…the old heroes…they don’t really support us or give us gigs. I’ve been operating The Tangent to a reasonable level of success over the past 12 years and not once has any musician from the ’70s said ‘Hey, I like what you’re doing man’ or got in touch and said ‘This is really good.’ Not a word from any of them, and I think that’s a little bit sad. When it comes down to it, we’re their legacy. Not just The Tangent, obviously. I’m talking about all the bands who are playing now. Flower Kings, Big Big Train, Magenta, the whole bloody lot of them. We’re their legacy, we’re what they’ve left. There’s a bitterness and a sweetness, but it’s like a love song. It’s about all the good things that happen in a love relationship and all the bad things. So my love song about Progressive Rock, it’s got good and bad. That’s what a love song is.”

Art of Propaganda is proud to present Thornesbreed‘s second album, GTRD, set for international release on June 29th
Art of Propaganda is proud to present Thornesbreed‘s second album, GTRD, set for international release on June 29th. Long-awaited to say the very least, GTRD is Thornesbreed‘s first full-length in 12 years, and first new release since 2011 as well as their first for Art of Propaganda. However, during that time, the German quintet have been in a quiet ‘n’ clandestine state of transition. Formed in 1997 as a death metal band, Thornesbreed released three demos before signing a deal with Animate Records, who released the band’s debut album, The Splendour of the Repellent, in 2003 to good critical response across Europe. Following the album’s release, the band played over 100 concerts across Europe and some select festivals in Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. That time spent on the stage, as well as burning desire to dive deeper into blacker realms, has resulted inThornesbreed‘s crowning statement of their new era, GTRD. “Brutal black metal” is one way to describe the record, as its muscularity is deeply informed by black metal, and its attack can be morbidly exhausting on both the physique and the psyche. Peel away that pithy description and you’ll find a bottomless pit of grime and grimness, one where the only reasonable response is to submit to the soul-devouring sonic devastation and drown into oblivion. GTRD is that strangely titled, strangely alluring pit – rendered all the more horrific and hi-fi courtesy of the mix/mastering by A.O.D. at Temple of Disharmony – and Thornesbreed dare you to enter. Hear the first emanations from that pit HERE and HERE.

Revolver Mag Premiere TITANS EVE’s Thrash Anthem ‘War Path’; New Album ‘Chasing The Devil’ Due Out June 12th
Sitting at track number two on the full length it carries the weight of an Eric Mosher (AC/DC,Buckcherry) engineered song with the layered mastering from Jeff Waters (Annihilator).

AC/DC’s Phil Rudd Pleads Guilty to Drug Possession and Threatening to Kill Charges
AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd appeared in court Tuesday morning (April 21) in New Zealand and entered a guilty plea to charges of methamphetamine and cannabis possession. He also pled guilty to one charge of threatening to kill when he appeared in Tauranga District Court. A second threatening to kill charge was dropped.
According to New Zealand’s Stuff, Judge Robert Wolffe remanded Rudd on bail. However, he was not convicted and the judge ordered him to appear for sentencing on June 26.
Rudd reportedly remained silent in court except when asked to enter his plea. He also refused to answer questions as he left the courthouse, reports the New Zealand Herald.
The drummer’s legal woes began on Nov. 6, when police raided his home and charged him with attempting to procure a murder, threatening to kill and possession of the drugs. The procuring a murder charge was dropped rather quickly, but the other charges remained.
Rudd’s lawyer Craig Tuck stated they were interested in taking a “pathway of making sure the facts are right and making sure both sides of the story are told.” He added, “Phil is very interested in how the media deal with it.”
Back in December, Rudd vowed to return to AC/DC, but his legal issues have kept him from returning to the band for the group’s recent appearances at the Grammys and Coachella. AC/DC’s onetime drummer Chris Slade has filled in during Rudd’s absence.

The band’s debut full-length, Pink Palms, was released in October via FADER Label. The LA Times premiered the record and called it “a mash of frenetic garage rock and lush indie rock.” Zane Lowe premiered “All I Really Want”, the album’s first single, proclaiming, “The future – a big part of it – belongs to them.” NPR Music called the song “an absolute knockout.”
Band-mates, Mikaiah Lei (Lead Vocal, Guitar, Bass) and Anaiah Lei (Drums & Percussions, Backing Vocal), recorded their first album together when they were just 15 and 12, respectively. They self-released their first three albums and completed two Vans Warped Tours, two AFROPUNK Fests, countless European festivals, and support tours with Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Blur, Damon Albarn’s Africa Express, Refused, and Bad Brains, before releasing their EP, Sincerely Sorry, on FADER Label in 2013.

During the show the woman herself shot down her ex-husband’s accusations, saying, “the Wu-Tang is nothing but gentlemen” and “I would never cheat on him.” She added, “Also, I don’t know if this is appropriate to say, but I would never be like a ‘bust down’ or a ‘groupie’ in that type of situation. I kept my lady points together.”

Watch Green Day play first show in over a year, bring the house down
Last night, Green Day returned to the stage for the first time in over a year at the House Of Blues in Cleveland, Ohio.
They kicked things off with a surprise hour-long set as Sweet Children (Green Day’s initial moniker) with original drummer John Kiffmeyer, which included tracks that haven’t been performed in over 20 years. Frontman Billie Joe Armstrong and bassist Mike Dirnt later returned to the stage with Tre Cool behind the kit and busted through an immaculate, reportedly 24-track set of fan favorites. They were even joined by Tim Armstrong for a few songs, including a freaking Rancid cover. Does is even get more punk than that?

Today, black/death barbarians Perdition Temple premiere a graphic new video for “Chambers of Predation” HERE. The track hails from the band’s new album, The Tempter’s Victorious, recently released by Hells Headbangers, and the video for “Chambers of Predation” was filmed in conspiracy with Unearthed Films for the upcoming DVD release of an AGP (American Guinea Pig Series) film entitled Bouquet of Guts and Gore. As Perdition Temple guitarist Gene Palubicki expains, “I felt that many of these images from the film worked quite well with the subject manner of the lyrics to the song ‘Chambers of Predation,’ and as a fan of hard, extreme, and violent film, this was a fine fit to tie in with this sort of thing. The band footage was shot on traditional VHS tape camcorder – same camcorder used in film production – and the scattered and swaying camera action and unpolished visual approach ties into the scheme of the films timeline of a mid ’80s-period look, where most band footage from underground shows/rehearsal rooms was likened to.” The video for Perdition Temple‘s “Chambers of Predation” can be viewed HERE, but WARNING: many extremely graphic and NSFW images contained within.
The American band’s first album for new label home Hells Headbangers, The Tempter’s Victorious follows Perdition Temple‘s celebrated debut album, Edict of the Antichrist Elect, from 2010. Though many years have passed, the (hell)fire stills burns brightly in the Perdition Temple, and The Tempter’s Victorious sees the band perfecting their militant, malevolent brand of blackened death metal. However, band founder/scene veteran Gene Palubicki is joined by an elite cadre of new members here, including his old Angelcorpse guitar foil Bill Taylor (also of Immolation) and, on vocals, Black Witchery’s intimidating Impurath. Together, the revitalized quintet peal off one surging, contorting attack after another, their crush chaotic yet controlled, making The Tempter’s Victorious a swift eight-track tornado. Hear one of those tornadoes exclusively HERE, courtesy of NoCleanSinging.com.
GARBAGE SHARES NEW MUSIC VIDEO FOR RECORD STORE DAY RELEASE
“THE CHEMICALS” FEAT. BRIAN AUBERT
In celebration of this year’s Record Store Day, Garbage has released a music video for “The Chemicals” featuring Brian Aubert of Silversun Pickups. Mashable premiered the video yesterday alongside a Q+A with frontwoman Shirley Manson. Watch the video HERE.
Directed by Sophie Muller, the clip showcases the raw energy of a raucous punk club. Describing the inspiration for the video, Manson commented, “We’ve always been talking about the beauty of small punk clubs. We were sort of rueing with the loss of a lot of those clubs that Sophie and I grew up in – that sort of sweaty excitement and the sensuality that comes when you cram people in such a tiny space.”
Garbage will release the song on a two track fluorescent orange 10″ vinyl through their own Stunvolume label at select independent retailers this Saturday, April 18. Head HERE to find a participating record store.
The “Ghosttown” video was directed by longtime Madonna collaborator, Jonas Åkerlund (“Ray of Light”, “Music”, “American Life”). It was choreographed by Megan Lawson, styled by B. Åkerlund and features hair styled by Andy Lecompte and makeup by Aaron Henrikson.

REVENGE OF THE MEKONS, NEW DOCUMENTARY ABOUT THE CULT ROCK GROUP, OPENS IN SELECT MARKETS ACROSS THE U.S.
After a successful run at New York’s Film Forum, Joe Angio’s exuberant documentary REVENGE OF THE MEKONS will be premiering in cities across the country this Spring, including Nashville on March 26, Minneapolis on April 8, Chicago on April 17, Austin and Houston on April 18, and San Francisco on April 25. A complete list of screenings is below.
According to renowned music critic Lester Bangs, “The Mekons are the most revolutionary group in the history of rock ‘n’ roll. They are also the finest artists ever to have graced this admittedly somewhat degenerate form with the grace of their aesthetic sensibilities, rarefied as a glimpse through a butterfly’s wing.”
A genre-defying collective that emerged from the 1977 British punk scene, the Mekons progressed from a group of socialist art students from Leeds (England) with no musical skills to the prolific, raucous progeny of Hank Williams. The film follows their improbable history – a surprising and influential embrace of folk and country music, forays into the art world (collaborations with Vito Acconci and Kathy Acker), and consistent bad luck with major record labels. Among the celebrated fans who appear on screen to testify to the power of their music and their artistic innovations are authors Jonathan Franzen (The Corrections) and Luc Sante (Low Life), musician/actor Will Oldham, film director Mary Harron (I Shot Andy Warhol), comedian/musician Fred Armisen, and rock historian/critic Greil Marcus.
REVENGE OF THE MEKONS reveals how, four decades into an ever-evolving career, the Mekons continue to make bold, unpredictable music while staying true to the punk ethos.
“The Mekons were kind of like the background music of my life.” – Jonathan Franzen
“Joe Angio’s jubilant new documentary Revenge of the Mekons…captures them in all their ragged, rough-and-tumble splendor.” – Village Voice
“An exemplary documentary about an exemplary band. A compelling look at why this particular band of ruffians has continued to remain so important for its devoted followers since their long-ago and almost accidental inception at the height of the punk-rock era.” – Slant Magazine
“Infectious…contagious” -The New York Times (Critics’ Pick)
“Buoyant” -The Hollywood Reporter

I’m a fan.” The video was shot completely on the Digital Bolex D16, the first digital 16mm camera. Take a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the video HERE.

The duo was recently hailed as “the coolest brothers on planet earth” by NYLON and “this generation’s real rock ‘n’ rolling brothers” by Teen Vogue. The Bots received high praise from Interview, who included the band in their “15 Faces of 2015” feature and Alternative Press, who included the band in their “100 Bands You Need to Know in 2015” list. The band was profiled in LA Weekly, who called them “L.A.’s most celebrated rock duo” and said “watching The Bots’ kinetic jams can remind anyone over 30 of the joyous exuberance and purity that music once brought.”
METALLICA TO CELEBRATE RECORD STORE DAY WITH RELEASE OF NO LIFE ‘TIL LEATHER LIMITED EDITION CASSETTE
LOS ANGELES, CA – In celebration of Record Store Day, on April 18th, Metallica will release No Life ’til Leather as a limited edition cassette. The seven tracks were recorded in 1982 in Tustin, CA by the band’s original lineup of James Hetfield: lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Lars Ulrich: drums, Dave Mustaine: lead guitar, and Ron McGovney: bass. Straight from the archives, the original source material has been re-mastered to maximize the sound potential for 2015 without altering the original mixes. No Life ’til Leather will be available for purchase at your favorite local record store and on Metallica.Com. The collection has never been available commercially until now. See below for the complete tracklisting.
A note from Metallica:
This year we decided to celebrate Record Store Day with our friends at independent retail by taking a huge leap back in time to our humble beginnings with that little rectangle of plastic known as the “demo tape.” In 1982 we recorded seven songs that became our initial calling card known as No Life ’til Leather and it led us to our first record deal . . . the rest, as you some of you may know, is history! We hope you enjoy this little walk down memory lane with us and that you will continue to join us in supporting independent record stores around the world.
Look for expanded versions coming on CD, vinyl and a collector’s set sometime this summer.

Q PRIME SIGNS VOLBEAT
AS NEW MANAGEMENT CLIENT
FOR NORTH AMERICA
NEW YORK, NY – February 11, 2015 – Q Prime, the New York based music management firm founded and run by Cliff Burnstein and Peter Mensch, today announced the North American management signing of the Grammy nominated Danish metal band Volbeat.
“Anytime you see a band (in Lubbock, Texas no less) who can play Johnny Cash’s “Ring of Fire” and their own “Hangman’s Body Count” in the same set is worth managing,” said Peter Mensch. “We are looking forward to plunging into wildly imaginative world of Volbeat.”
“We are truly excited to join forces with Qprime as our management team for the Americas. Since forming in Copenhagen in 2000, Volbeat has released five studio albums and two live offerings. Volbeat is Michael Poulsen (vocals/guitar), Anders Kjølholm (bass) and Jon Larsen (drums). In 2013, former Anthrax/The Damned Things guitarist Rob Caggiano, who produced their current album, Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies, with longtime Volbeat co-producer Jacob Hansen, joined the band as a full time member.
Volbeat’s current release Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies has sold more than 300,000 copies in the U.S., alongside hundreds of thousands of digital singles. The title has been certified platinum in their home country of Denmark, alongside Germany and Austria, with gold sales in Finland and Sweden. The album has also been certified gold in Canada. This past year, the Danish quartet received their first GRAMMY nomination in the “Best Metal Performance” category for “Room 24” (Volbeat Featuring King Diamond), and won Germany’s Echo Award for “Best International Alternative Act.” Recently, “A Warrior’s Call” from Beyond Heaven / Above Hell was certified gold in the U.S. for sales of 500,000 units by the RIAA.

Royal Blood is a mixture of anguished vocals, ferocious drumming and bass that provides intricate detail as well as a rumble of rhythm. The duo’s sound is a result of a lineage that stretches from present day heroes Queens of the Stone Age to the influential Led Zeppelin, and all the way back to early blues pioneers… yet this huge wall of sound emerges from just two men. In next to no time, the two have earned critical praise following the release of their debut single “Out of the Black” on the band’s own label Black Mammoth Records last year.
