Brett Favre is on Tom Brady’s side, says Patriots QB didn’t cheat

Most players and fans have supported the NFL‘s decision to punish the Patriots and quarterback Tom Brady. They agree with the league that Brady cheated by allegedly asking Patriots assistants to deflate footballs below the league approved measure.

One player who does not believe Brady cheated is none other than former NFL quarterback Brett Favre. The Packers legend was interviewed by Greta Van Susteren on Fox News earlier this week and gave his thoughts on Deflategate.

Before sharing his opinion, Favre said he hasn’t followed Deflategate too closely and he doesn’t know Brady that well. He said he understood the league’s stance about the “insinuation” of cheating.

“I don’t think by any stretch, in my opinion, that Tom was cheating. It sounds crazy. Historically, there’s been stealing of signs, and that goes to baseball and football. Just whatever advantage you could get. Lester Hayes putting Stickum on his arms for the Raiders. Pine tar. It’s just endless, the advantages that players would try to get.

“I don’t know if Tom can honestly say he has completed more passes because of it. I think more than anything, it helped with the grip based on conditions. Not every game. And would other players do it? Sure, I have no reason to think otherwise.”

Miley Cyrus Launches Foundation to Help Homeless Youth: ‘I’m the One That Can Fix It’

What began with Miley Cyrus’ surprising and unconventional date to the 2014 MTVVideo Music AwardsJesse Helt, a once-homeless man — has now developed into the singer becoming an advocate for homeless and LGBT youth.

“I’m the one that can fix it,” Cyrus told ABC News of the nationwide problem. “I think I’ve been able to identify with it just because I’ve never thought of myself as, ‘I’m a girl and so I can’t do this, or I can do this, or you’ve got to be a boy to do that.’ I feel completely like I’m not tied to a gender or to an age. I feel like an infinite cosmic thing, and that’s what I want people to feel.”

That feeling inspired her to launch the Happy Hippie Foundation, committed to helping homeless young people in the United States.

“We started a year ago with Jesse and we were focused on the homeless youth in L.A. and different support groups in San Francisco,” she said. “Now, we’re going bigger and wanting to take on America. And by the end of it we’re going to be taking on the world.”

Much of the homeless youth problem involves the LGBT community “because of the lack of acceptance and alienating people in society,” said Cyrus, 22.

“I thought it was really cool in Bruce Jenner’s interview when he talks about using the platform, like being on a reality show or me being on a tour, if it can get you in front of that many impressionable people and taking the power of social media it’s the best thing ever,” Cyrus told ABC News’ Amy Robach when the two sat down at The Surrey Hotel in New York City. “That’s why with Happy Hippie we’re putting on kind of an online support group, so this gives them a place to ask questions and to be educated.”

While Cyrus was watching the Jenner interview, she said she was “really looking at his eyes,” because she “couldn’t imagine doing this.”

“It’s brave,” she said. “And if it converts people, if people are watching, maybe they do feel some sort of compassion. I don’t know how people’s brains work. I hope it does. I don’t know how you could look into Bruce’s eyes and see anything else but the truth. And I think this is probably a huge sense of relief, in a way. No one should have to live a lie.”

And for her fans, the two-year wait for new Miley music is finally over — only this time, there’s a greater purpose.

“We’re launching with ‘Backyard Sessions’ with these videos on Facebook,” Cyrus said. “They’re doing something that I think they’ve maybe done once before. They rarely do this. It has a donate button so it’s embedded with the video.”

She brought in some of her friends, Joan Jett and Ariana Grande, and literally did recording sessions in her backyard.

“It was the best day pretty much ever,” she said. “Bring it back to something that matters. I don’t really want to sing just for myself. I want to be doing something for the world.”

As for her advice to anyone who is part of the LGBT community or who feels like they don’t fit in, “I’ve learned how to love myself as I got older,” said Cyrus. “When I was 16 or 17, that was the hardest years ever. I hate when I look at pictures of myself and I’m like, ‘I know that day was the day I was freaking out about my skin,’ or I felt like I didn’t fit in with everyone or I didn’t dress like everybody else.”

“You want to be peaceful with yourself and happy with yourself and love yourself,” she added. “And sometimes I think, as women especially, I think that we’re not supposed to say, ‘I love myself,’ because that’s vain. But I love myself, and that’s what everyone should be able to say..”

Taylor Swift Wears Leather, Plays A Hard Rock Version Of ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’: Watch

mgid-uma-image-mtv
Totally badass.
Taylor Swift started her career singing country tunes. For her latest album, 1989, she went pop. And now, at the 1989 World Tour kickoff in Tokyo, apparently, she’s gone hard rock. She played “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” with a badass, punk attitude during the show.

With thumping bass and grunt after grunt, you could felt Tay’s angst onstage, red lights shining around her head. Fans, of course, couldn’t get enough. Watch below!

And she wore leather pants. That’s one hard chick.

Our reporter inside the Toyko Dome caught this pic of Swift, saying her guitar arrangement sounded similar to AC/DC.

From ‘Twins’ To ‘Maggie,’ The Reinvention of Arnold Schwarzenegger

maggie

For the longest time, my favorite Arnold Schwarzenegger film was Twins. Now, I had seen movies likeTerminator and Predator (and probably even The Running Man) more times — those movies seemed to have a longer cable television lifespan — but Twins always made me happy. It made me happy because here’s Schwarzenegger, known at that point only for bodybuilding and action movies, trying to make a comedy. He was really trying, and I’ve always had a soft spot when someone is trying something different.

Twins, only Ivan Reitman’s second movie after Ghostbusters, was on cable recently and, watching it for the first time in a few years, we now kind of take Schwarzenegger’s charm for granted, but this was a new thing in 1988. It was only after Twins that Schwarzenegger’s action films were integrated with real humor. Retroactively, some of the lines in his earlier films became funnier, now that we kind of knew Schwarzenegger was in on the joke. But that was only after that he was being written funnier parts; Schwarzenegger’s Terminator in Judgment Day is a much funnier killer robot than the killer robot from the first film.

Looking back, maybe Twins wasn’t that big of a risk. If it would have failed, I suspect Terminator 2: Judgment Day would have still happened. But it would have been embarrassing for Schwarzenegger, proving he was nothing but a one trick pony. And, sure, people accuse him of that anyway, but he islegitimately funny in Twins and it’s a shame he didn’t do more straightforward comedies that weren’tKindergarten Cop (more of an action-comedy) or weren’t schlock like Junior(which is almost not a comedy, despite the premise) and Jingle All the Way.

Schwarzenegger’s return to acting since his stint as the governor of California has not gone particularly well. (And it’s still a little weird; could you imagine if Reagan left office and just started making movies with monkeys again?) There’s nothing particularly memorable about The Last Standor Sabotage, andExpendables 3 — the only film of the three in which Schwarzenegger plays a large role in the film — made the least amount of money of the three Expendables movies. (Escape Plan, another movie in which Schwarzenegger played second fiddle to Stallone, was a modest hit.) Worst of all, Schwarzenegger isn’t really trying. He’s acting like an athlete returning from an injury who just wants to ease back into things before actively trying to push himself. To this point, Schwarzenegger’s strategy has pretty much been to show up and look at the camera as if he’s saying, “Hey, it’s me! Can you believe I’m back? Well, believe it, because here I am.”

This narrative changes with the release of Maggie, a movie in which Schwarzenegger really is pushing himself to do something different. And, like with Twins, I find it impossible not to root for him.

Abigail Breslin plays Maggie, a teenage girl who has been bitten by a person infected with a deadly disease (from this point on, “person infected with a deadly disease” will be refereed to as “zombie,” even though that’s not a term from the film) and only has a few weeks before the disease also turns her into a zombie. Schwarzenegger plays her father, Wade, who pulls some strings to get her out of quarantine so that they can spend a few precious last weeks together.

It’s almost a shame this movie is about zombies at all, because I fear there’s a zombie fatigue setting in that might automatically alienate people when they hear “Arnold Schwarzenegger zombie movie,” because even having seen Maggie, my first instinct is to think of something different after reading those four words together. And for people thinking that this is going to be a movie in which we watch Arnold Schwarzenegger kill hundreds of zombies, they will be disappointed to learn that there’s only one true, jump scare-type scene in which Schwarzenegger has to fight a zombie. He does kill others, but it’s not “cool.” It’s played as sad and depressing. This is a disease that is slowly taking loved ones away, while the infected are 100 percent conscious of what’s slowly happening to them. This is a grim movie.

The thing is, without Schwarzenegger’s involvement, there’s not a lot here. It’s an okay enough story, but basically it’s just about a dying girl’s last few weeks alive, with the added twist that she’s going to be a zombie. There are some interesting themes here, in that we rarely learn much about zombies before they become zombies — the transformation is usually much quicker in other stories — but it’s basically a movie about saying goodbye. The only element that makes it truly interesting is Schwarzenegger’s presence.

Just like how I felt the first time I saw Twins, I have never seen Schwarzenegger try to do something like this before. There’s little action, there’s little to no humor; what Schwarzenegger is trying to pull off is some sort of solemn gravitas. The thing is, he actually succeeds, but only because of everything we already know about Arnold Schwarzenegger before we see Maggie. And I suppose this played into whyTwins was so effective; there’s an old switcheroo of expectations at work, which is appealing.

I almost hate that Schwarzenegger will be in his fourth Terminator movie later this summer. It kind of undercuts this almost narrative that Schwarzenegger is somehow adapting his onscreen persona to something different as he approaches 70. Then again, maybe that’s not fair. No one is mad that Harrison Ford, an actor already in his 70s, is playing Han Solo again. Regardless, the fact that Schwarzenegger is in a movie like Maggie at all is an interesting look at perhaps his next chapter.

Season-long Tom Brady suspension can’t be dismissed

321360-330-0

Discipline for Tom Brady is on the way. After Wednesday’s release of the Wells Report revealed the Patriots quarterback’s “more probably than not” guilt in the Deflate-gate scandal, many anticipate at least a fine, and perhaps a suspension.

But for how long? Could the NFL suspend Brady for an entire season? “It would be wrong to dismiss such an extended and seemingly improbable length of time as the ceiling for discipline,” a league source told the Miami Herald on Wednesday night.

WARNER: What happened to spirit of competition? MORE: Wells Report a sting operation?

“Everything is being considered,” according to the report.

Brady and the Patriots were found to most likely have intentionally deflated footballs in January’s AFC championship win over the Colts, a report by investigator Ted Wells concluded after a four-month investigation. Discipline for coach Bill Belichick or owner Robert Kraft was not mentioned by the Herald’s source.

Patriots employees Jim McNally and John Jastremski, who participated in the “deliberate plan to circumvent the rules,” are also expected to be punished.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell released a statement to address the investigation’s conclusion but did not give a specific timeframe for potential discipline.

“As with other recent matters involving violations of competitive rules, Troy Vincent and his team will consider what steps to take in light of the report, both with respect to possible disciplinary action and to any changes in protocols that are necessary to avoid future incidents of this type. At the same time, we will continue our efforts vigorously to protect the integrity of the game and promote fair play at all times.”

Kenny Florian & Rashad Evans: It’s time for Jon Jones to step away from the sport

Time for Jon Jones to step away from the sport?

In light of UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones’ arrest Monday on felony hit-and-run charges in a vehicle where marijuana was allegedly found, retired UFC fighter Kenny Florian and former light heavyweight champion and Jones rival, Rashad Evans, appeared on FOX Sports 1 and said that “Bones” needs to take time away from the sport of MMA, as well as face some real consequences. Jones, now out on bond, faces felony charges from an alleged hit-and-run accident on Sunday morning in New Mexico, where he is preparing for his scheduled May 23 title defense at UFC 187 against Anthony “Rumble” Johnson.

John Stamos Calls ‘Bullshit’ On Olsen Twins’ Claim They Were Left Out Of ‘Fuller House’

The ‘Fuller House’ back and forth continues. John Stamos took to Twitter to clarify that he did in fact reach out to Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen to be a part of the ‘Full House’ spinoff– and he had some very choice words.

John Stamos wants to make it clear that he reached out to Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen about joining the Full House spinoff series, Fuller HouseWhen John broke the news that the revival was officially happening, the question of which cast members of the original series would and wouldn’t be returning quickly ran through everyone’s minds. After conflicting reports about their involvement, Mary-Kate and Ashley claimed that John had not actually reached out to them in the first place. Well, on April 26, John took to his Twitter to set the record straight!

‘Full House’ Spinoff Feud

John Stamos is calling “bullsh-t” on the Olsen twins’ claim that he had not reached out to them about appearing in Fuller Housewhich will debut on Netflix some time in 2016.

Do you hope to see the Olsen twins on ‘Fuller House’?
DefinitelyNot really

A link was tweeted by JamShowbiz to an article entitled which stated that the twins had no idea that Fuller House was even happening. Along with the article, the account said, “John Stamos apparently forgot to tell the Olsen twins about the Full House reunion.”

Not letting the statement go by, John tweeted, “I call bullsh-t.” Check out the Tweet below!

‘Fuller House’ He Said She Said

Let’s break down the events which lead up to John’s expletive use on social media. On April 22, Mary-Kate told our sister site WWD that, ““We just found out about [the spinoff] today.” Say what? The plot thickens, though!

“I ran into Bob [Saget] the other day and we didn’t even talk about it,” Ashley said. “I’m going to call [Bob] and get his perspective!” she added.

Uncle Jesse was real quick to call the girls out, though!

A source close to the series revealed to HollywoodLife.com that, “the Olsen Twins knew aboutFuller House. They weren’t surprised at all by the announcement.”

Ronda Rousey Is A ‘One And Done’ In WWE, According To Dana White

Ever since Ronda Rousey showed up at WrestleMania 31 to throw Triple H around like a child and nearly tear off Stephanie McMahon’s arm, we’ve had to wade through a series of “will she or won’t she?” stories about next year’s WrestleMania. Rumors, Twitter hints and words from Rousey’s manager matter less than the opinion of UFC President Dana White, seeing as he’s the guy with final say over whether Rousey gets to wrestle for WWE.

Well, the Fight Network recently asked him about whether Rousey will be doing future business with WWE, and he didn’t give the answer you’re probably hoping for:

“What she did on WrestleMania was awesome, it was awesome. It came off great. I loved it. She’s a one and done.”

When straight-up asked whether there are any pro wrestling matches in Ronda Rousey’s future, Dana had an equally straight-up answer: “Nope.”

So, how is WWE responding to this news? They must have already known, right? To quote Dana White, “Nope.” According to F4WOnline, WWE’s creative team was said to be shocked about Dana’s pronouncement.

This isn’t necessarily the end of the story. WWE still has almost a year to make this happen, and they have the money to make some very convincing arguments. Also, Dana shot down the match, but some sort of valet/manager situation could still happen. Or maybe it won’t. WWE has set their sights on the most popular girl in the lunchroom, and (usually) when you do that, you get shot down.

Ric Flair Thinks His Daughter Charlotte Should Wrestle Ronda Rousey

emma-charlotte

Think you’ve got lofty goals for booking Ronda Rousey in WWE? Well, move over because wrestling legend Ric Flair’s got it all figured out.

Before he revealed how he’d like to see Rousey show up at WrestleMania in a recent interview with WresltingNews.com, Flair expressed his frustrations with how his daughter is being used:

My daughter is the best athlete in the company, man or woman. She’s been ready for six months. You ever watch her work? You tell me. I don’t know what the deal is. I’m frustrated by it. I’m just a guy who is proud of his daughter. I know the business enough to know when someone is so much better than anybody else. I’m just disappointed.

I get it, it’s a political game. The company’s got agendas and they have things that they have to figure out. The least important thing [for them] is trying to figure out my daughter’s goals. For me, it’s everything in life. [Triple H] is my best friend and I trust him. Vince McMahon and I are very close I trust him. Stephanie and I are close. I believe that they’ll always take care of Ashley. Not because they need to take care of her, but because she’s the best. It’s just a matter of finding the right position for her.

To be fair, Charlotte is a recent NXT Women’s Champion, she’s having some of the best matches in the company on any level, and she’s been established as an impressive and dominant athlete without any of the catty, jealous, nutbar character implications placed on the main roster women’s wrestlers. But the main roster is just that, and it’s easy to understand why he thinks she’s not technically at the top of the game.

When asked if he’s a UFC fan, Flair says that he likes Jon Jones, but he doesn’t usually watch unless Brock Lesnar or Ronda Rousey are fighting: “I’m a big fan of Ronda. I think Ronda is fantastic.” So, how would he feel about them throwing down one-on-one?

Let’s do it, man, that’s what I want to see. Charlotte’s not afraid to get in there. In all fairness, if she had a year to train, I’m not saying Ashley would win by any means, but if she had a year to get ready for it, it wouldn’t end in Round 1. I’ll predict that. It wouldn’t be 14-second tap out. Ashley would need to learn submission wrestling, but she’s strong beyond belief.

While I may not be totally sold on the idea of Rousey mixing it up in a pro graps capacity, you can’t deny that out of all of the female competitors WWE has, Charlotte is the most impressively athletic. Hey, “to be the woman, you’ve got to not get your arm ripped completely from your body” could totally catch on as a thing people say, right?

25 Cash Money Artists WHO GOT FUCKED OVER:

LIL WAYNE, LIMP BIZKIT, PARIS HILTON, BUSTA RHYMES, CHRISTINA MILIAN, CHANEL WEST COAST, SHANNEL & MORE…SMELLS LIKE SUGE KNIGHT AND DEATH ROW RECORDS

Many times when Birdman releases a statement about a new Cash Money signee, he says something along the lines of, “I knew he/she was a star.” That’s supposed to be more reassuring. Often, an artist gets a definite release date for their debut album when they do sign that dotted line: TBD. YMCMB is a good look, but it’s sometimes an uphill battle for trying to release a body of work. That often becomes a battle to stay relevant after a certain period of time.

Even the most relevant artists of the group are having trouble putting their new material out there. Lil Wayne put the label on blast for keeping Tha Carter V on the shelf, and the continued delay of The Gold Album: 18th Dynasty also has Tyga throwing shots at the label. As much as that sucks, at least they actually got to release an album or three for Birdman’s operation. There are multiple artists who stayed on YMCMB for multiple years without one album out—forever hearing they were a priority; forever on the to-do list; forever up next.

Lil Wayne signed sometime model Stephanie Acevado to Young Money earlier last week. Does she have a shot at dropping an album? You never know. Hopefully, she doesn’t suffer the same headaches as the following artists:

Bow Wow

Year Signed: 2009
Noteworthy Releases: Everything before he dropped the Lil.

Who Is He? He’s pretty much been doing it for the duration of 106 & Park’s existence. During the early aughts, Bow Wow was a king to adolescent and teenage girls with hits like “Take Ya Home” and “Let Me Hold You” before gradually falling off. Last year, it looked like he was going to have some time to focus on that long awaited seventh album because of 106 & Park’s cancellation. However, he’s now part of the main cast of the new series CSI: Cyber.

Where’s the Album? Well, there has been a schism between Bow Wow and Cash Money. In 2012, after multiple album delays and new release dates, Bow Wow tweeted, “Doing everything on my own. No help from nobody. Going to radio dolo going to da clubs fuk’n wit dj’s dolo. So when i win im thankn myself.” “Sh** so fucked up maaan.. I swear. Im tryna stay focused but its like at this point ‘Fuck that album’ & Fuck a release date. Im doin shows….” Bow Wow, who now goes by Shad Moss, hasn’t shown much interest in that album since then. Not that that’s a big deal; no one is really checking for a Bow Wow album in 2015, including—based on his focus on television commitments—Bow Wow himself.

Brisco

Year Signed: 2007
Noteworthy Releases: The New Ca$h Money

Who Is He? Brisco isn’t an immediately recognizable name, but he was a consistent guest presence in the last decade, appearing on Rick Ross’ Port Of Miami, DJ Khaled’s Listennn…The Album, and Lil Wayne’s Da Drought 3 and Tha Carter III.

Where’s the Album?  He isn’t a recognizable name. Weezy can’t even get Tha Carter V out. You think theStreet Medicine album is coming anytime soon?

Busta Rhymes

Year Signed: 2012
Noteworthy Releases: The Coming, E.L.E. (Extinction Level Event): The Final World Front; “Woo Hah!! Got You All in Check,” “Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See,” “Gimme Some More,” “Touch It”

Who Is He? He’s Busta Rhymes. He doesn’t have the braids anymore and is now the size of a bus, but this is still Busta Rhymes. His guest verse on “Scenario” is a hip-hop classic, and he’s still a treasure for his instantly recognizable singles and videos. This is well known, so we won’t get redundant. Besides being physically huge for a guy whose main occupation is to rap, Busta Rhymes has maintained relevance recently with the sleeper “Thank You” featuring Q-Tip and being part of the reason why we’re still talking about OT Genasis’ “Coco” in 2015.

Where’s The Album? The Abstract And The Dragon, the 2013 compilation mixtape with Q-Tip, was supposed to be a preview of what’s to come in 2014. Obviously, what was to come didn’t come yet. There wasn’t much from Busta Rhymes in 2014 other than the clunky “Calm Down” featuring Eminem; E.L.E. 2 (Extinction Level Event 2)’s release date still remains a mystery. Busta said last July he just had to overcome some clearance issues, the album as 90 percent done and that E.L.E. 2 was supposed to come mid-fall. And that hasn’t happened. On one hand, this joins the list of hip-hop sequels that have been indefinitely delayed; that Supreme Clientele 2 still ain’t drop. On the other, Busta has said this is the first time in his career he’s had full creative control over an album.

Even though E.L.E. 2 has been in the making before he signed to Cash Money, it’s worth noting that the move didn’t help much. It looks like the label wasn’t full rocking with Rhymes’ project. “So if I feel like if, in the slightest way, we ain’t facilitating everything necessary for the vision to be seen and executed in the way I’m envisioning this for the last five years, let me live and die in my own own inequity,” he said last July. So basically, the split happened because of everyone’s favorite euphemism: creative differences.

Caskey

Year Signed: 2012
Noteworthy Releases: No Complaints

Who Is He? Caskey, an Orlando native, was originally a heavy metal head before his older sister put him on to Nas when he was young. After getting his rhyme tighter through high school, he released a series of mixtapes before getting Birdman’s attention with 2012’s No Complaints. It was time to come up.

Where’s the Album?  Cash Money just doesn’t seem to be with it when it comes to artist development. It’s a shame since Caskey actually does have some talent.

Chanel West Coast

Year Signed: 2013
Noteworthy Releases: Now You Know

Who Is She? West Coast, a 26-year-old Los Angeles native, is more commonly associated with Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory and Ridiculousness than she is for her music. She’s been releasing free material after leaving Polow Da Don’s Zone 4 label. With Young Money, she released the Now You Know mixtape and got a spot on last year’s Rise Of An Empire. She also went on to win a BET Award for Best Group with Young Money, so there’s something.

Where’s the Album? Well, West Coast did put in work in 2014 on her debut in and released three singles. That album is supposed to drop this year, so we’ll see.

Euro

Year Signed: 2013
Noteworthy Releases: July

Who Is He? He’s Young Money’s secret weapon, according to Lil Wayne. The 22-year-old Dominican rhymer was apparently so nice that Weezy signed him after just one verse. Of course, that could just mean Lil Wayne was being lazy. It doesn’t look like that’s the case, though; Euro was one of the lone bright marks not named Drake or Nicki Minaj who was on Rise Of An Empire.

Where’s the Album? Because we’re still waiting for a mixtape. July, a seven-track EP, dropped as a preview. But it’s still early.

Flow

Year Signed: 2012
Noteworthy Release: Heroic Volume 1

Who Is He? He’s another rhymer from New Orleans that Lil Wayne showed love to. Flow showed up on theSorry 4 The Wait track “Inkredible” and Rise Of An Empire’s “Fresher Than Ever.”

Where’s the Album? There are many, but his 2013 arrest for attempted first-degree murder and two counts of armed robbery probably didn’t help.

Gudda Gudda

Year Signed: 2005
Noteworthy Releases: Certified

Who Is He? Gudda Gudda’s existence disproves Malcolm Gladwell’s 10,000 hours theory. The dude is a veteran with the skills of a weed carrier. Gudda Gudda is known for being one of the first Young Money signees, his Guddaville series and being cool enough to stick with Lil Wayne. There isn’t much beyond that, and look no further than his infamous verse on “Bedrock” to see why: “I like the way you walking if you walking my way / I’m that Red Bull, now let’s fly away / Let’s buy a place, with all kind of space.”

Where’s the Album? Because he isn’t the rap game’s Faulkner and Lil Wayne ain’t writing enough of his verses.

Cory Gunz

Year Signed: 2011
Noteworthy Releases: “6 Foot 7 Foot” verse, Datz WTF I’m Talkin’ Bout

Who Is He? Cory has one of the oddest career arcs on this list. “6 Foot 7 Foot” was a false prediction of another classic, and Gunz’s guest verse was supposed to be a breakthrough verse for a bright career. He became one of the many artists whose talent as a rapper couldn’t translate into mainstream success. His 2013 mixtape Datz WTF I’m Talkin’ Bout got slept on before he played a supporting role to his father’s Love & Hip Hop controversies. Still, he stole the show on the otherwise lackluster Carter IV, and should have followed it up.

Where’s the Album? “I sure do have a hankering for some new Cory Gunz,” said no one. That’s the problem.

Karine Hannah

Year Signed: 2014
Noteworthy Releases: I’ll Be Alright, “Burning Up”

Who Is She? Born in Montreal, Hannah is a New York-based pop singer who counts singing at Celine Dion’s wedding at the age of 16 as a career highlight. Her lawyer happens to be Cash Money’s lawyer Edward R. Grauer, Esq. The label heard her music playing in his office, and the relationship grew from there.

Where’s the Album? She’s a recent signee who hasn’t really made a name yet. Hannah also recently toldThe Sourcethat she expects her Cash Money debut to “drop late fall/early winter.” If only she knew.

Paris Hilton

Year Signed: 2013
Noteworthy Releases: Paris, “Good Time,” a video cameo on “Tapout”

Who Is She? You’ve probably heard of her: Heiress to Hilton Hotels. Reality television star. Sex tape person. Sometime singer. She didn’t need Cash Money because of that Hilton money, but the signing happened, and we have new age classic “Good Time” to thank her for. You probably remember the lyrics: “Are you having a good time / ‘Cause I’m having a good time / And I might be a bit tipsy / But that’s okay cause you’re with me.” Sadly, the streets wasn’t feeling it. It peaked at No. 18 on the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs charts. “Come Alive,” her follow-up, didn’t do much better

Where’s the Album? A Paris Hilton album might sell; her debut sold 200,000 copies even though most already shrugged it off as a failure before its release. But there’s just no urgency for Hilton to put out another album. Hilton is getting six figures DJing. She’ll be fine.

Jacquees

Year Signed: 2014
Noteworthy Releases: 19 EP

Who Is He? Jacquees is a new R&B artist out of Atlanta with a sweetness that speaks to a few 1990s acts (like SWV, for one). He’s earned a co-sign from Chris Brown and managed to get features from Rich Homie Quan, Trinidad Jame$ and Lloyd on his 19 EP that he dropped last year.

Where’s the Album? Singers on Cash Money don’t do all that well, but he only signed a couple of months ago. Plus, Jacquees has been taking pictures with Rich Homie Quan and Young Thug and has an uncredited slot on Rich Gang’sTha Tour Pt. 1. So he has that going for him.

Sarah Lenore

Year Signed: 2013
Noteworthy Releases: N/A

Who Is She? Cash Money’s other reality star is a Florida-based pop singer from the 2008 season ofAmerica’s Got Talent. And Birdman knows talent. “Sarah is a star in every sense of the word,” Birdman said at the time. “She is a strong performer, has a beautiful voice and lights up the room. My brother Slim and I have big plans for her.”

Where’s the Album? Pop and Cash Money don’t really mix.

Lil Twist

Year Signed: 2007
Noteworthy Releases: Class President

Who Is He? He used to be Young Money’s teen protégé out of Texas. Now he’s just Justin Bieber’s mans, who happens to be signed to Young Money.

Where’s the Album? Even Red-Bull-let’s-fly-away Gudda Gudda has a Billboard hit in “Bedrock.”  Lil Twist managed to go through collaborations with Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes without one song cracking the Hot 100. You know what else doesn’t help? Calling his management team, “Worst management team in the history of management teams.”

Limp Bizkit

Year Signed: 2012
Noteworthy Releases: Chocolate Starfish And The Hot Dog Flavored Water

Who Are They? There are plenty of ridiculous things that were popular back in the late-1990s and early-2000s: The Parkers, Lugz, 3XL shirts. Limp Bizkit is another example, and adolescents who grew up toSmackdown (shoutouts to The Undertaker) are all too familiar with the group. This is the band that madeChocolate Starfish And The Hot Dog Flavored Water and “Nookie”—both absurd titles, both Billboard charting releases.

Where’s the Album? It’s not only that Cash Money doesn’t know what to do with stars from disparate genres; Limp Bizkit has been bad in recent years. The two singles they released with Cash Money—“Ready To Go” and “Thieves”—had little success. Plus, there’s Rich Gang’s “Sunshine,” which is the worst song off one of 2013’s worst albums. Limp Bizkit might not even be with Cash Money anymore. Last October, frontman Fred Durst told Detroit rock station 101 WRIF that they’ve parted ways with Cash Money. However, the label’s website still lists them as one of their artists.

Austin Mahone

Year Signed: 2013
Noteworthy Releases: The Secret

Who Is He? Austin Mahone is an 18-year-old Texan with the looks and charm of Justin Bieber, but with only a fraction of the ubiquity and infamy. Part of the reason he’s on Cash Money in the first place is because he was the teen ambassador for Lil Wayne’s TrukFit clothing line. After opening for Taylor Swift, Mahone got signed to Cash Money. Turns out that wasn’t a great move. Beside a minor headlining spot on MTV’s Artists To Watch Tour and another EP, Mahone hasn’t been putting out much of anything. Birdman barely co-signs him—or anyone not named Rich Homie Quan or Young Thug—these days.

Where’s the Album? There’s no buzz. Plus, he’s pretty much Cash Money’s version of Justin Bieber. We don’t need another Justin Bieber. His dick is already the center of discussion for 2015.

Christina Milian

Year Signed: 2012
Noteworthy Releases: “Dip It Low,” “AM to PM”

Who Is She? Milian was hot back in he early 2000s. In fact, she was hot enough to make her professional music debut on Ja Rule’s “Between Me & You.” Drake didn’t get on a record with Ja Rule. Nicki Minaj neither. The Ja Rule collaboration hit No. 11 on the Hot 100, and “Dip It Low,” her 2004 single, topped that at No. 5. Milian eventually petered out, though. Her follow-up to 2006’s So Amazin’ never came in partial thanks to her focus on acting and personal circumstance.

Where’s the Album? Milian has said that Lil Wayne has been advising her, but there’s been nothing so far other than a poor showing on Rise Of An Empire.

Mystikal

Year Signed: 2011
Noteworthy Releases: “Shake Ya Ass,” “Danger (Been So Long)”

Who Is He? He’s significant for being one of the first rappers from New Orleans to break out nationally. Plus, his two biggest hits—“Shake Ya Ass” and “Danger (Been So Long)”—were wild, uncompromising mashups of dirty funk and dirtier lyrics. The video for the former changed the lives for many millennials. But Mystikal’s career got derailed after serving a six-year sentence for extortion and sexual battery (and a concurrent one for not filing tax returns) starting in 2004, and another three-month sentence in 2012 for misdemeanor domestic battery. Post-prison Mystikal did have his moments, though; his 2012 single “Hit Me” was excellent, and he even got to perform “Feel Right” on Saturday Night Live with Mark Ronson.

Where’s the Album? Mystikal recorded a lot of material for Cash Money, but no album dropped. He eventually wanted out. “They was going a different route with the music they’re doing,” Mystikal said toNOLA.com. “I understand, ’cause their machine is primed and oiled and running. I’m a page-turner. I was gonna turn that page, for real, shake it up a little bit. I think they want to keep where they are, because it works for them.” Mystikal is still listed on Cash Money’s website, though.

Reek Da Villian

Year Signed: 2014
Noteworthy Releases: Catastrophic with Busta Rhymes and J Doe, “Go Off”

Who Is He? Reek Da Villian was rolling with Busta Rhymes from back when he signed with Flipmode in 2006. He inked a deal with Rhymes’ Conglomerate Records in 2011, but the two parted ways over 2014’s “Go Off” (which featured Kendrick Lamar, Ace Hood and Swizz Beatz). The video leaked on WorldStar early, and Busta Rhymes got it removed while Reek Da Villian asserted he wanted to just leave it up. Reek decided to do the reasonable thing right after: sign with Birdman’s Rich Gang right after Busta Rhymes left in July.

Where’s The Album? How crazy would it be if Reek Da Villain got an album released under Cash Money even though Busta couldn’t?

Chris Richardson

Year Signed: 2012
Noteworthy Releases: Tyga’s “Far Away”

Who Is He? Richardson proved that very important people were watching American Idol even though it’s audience was shrinking. Birdman happened to be one of them. One would say that this was a good look for Richardson, but he’s had a docile career thus far, especially when put next to Jordin Sparks,’ who won his season. Richardson only has an EP to his name.

Where’s the Album? How many American Idol first place finishers are still relevant? How many American Idol fifth-place finishers are still relevant? Exactly.

Savvy

Year Signed: 2011
Noteworthy Releases: N/A

Who Are They? Going from Radio Disney to Cash Money is a stretch, but Savvy made that jump. The Texas quintet starred in a Radio Disney mall tour and even released an album under the kiddie pop label in 2004. Seven years later, their signing to Cash Money became one of the biggest examples of the label’s ambition to extend past hip-hop. “We are blown away by the range of talent in Savvy; they’re a special group,” said CEO Ronald “Slim” Williams. “They work together and embody the hardworking spirit of the Cash Money family.”

Where’s the Album?  You can only really give props to a brand like Cash Money if its risk-taking actually works. That hasn’t happened in that saccharine pop genre. Savvy’s “Shake Rattle ‘N Roll,” its recent single, only earned 2,445 YouTube views. With a sound just about as relevant as Radio Disney, things might not get that much better.

Shanell

Year Signed: 2009
Noteworthy Releases: “Prom Queen” with Lil Wayne

Who Is She? After getting notoriety as a songwriter, Shanell ended up finding her way by somehow sticking around Young Money’s bigger projects. She ended up on both of Young Money’s compilation albums and even got her own collaboration with Lil Wayne on We Are Young Money‘s “Play In My Band.” It’s there it becomes apparent that she’s a weak singer. As in, K. Michelle on “If They Knew,” why-did-they-not re-record it weak.

Where’s the Album? The R&B market has gotten kind of crowded these past few years; Tinashe, Beyonce, FKA Twigs and others are taking what little room she has to shine. Plus, her latest mixtape, Nobody’s Bitch 2 didn’t even go bronze on DatPiff. If she has trouble getting free downloads on DatPiff…

Stafford Brothers

Year Signed: 2012
Noteworthy Releases: “Hello” with Lil Wayne and Christina Milian

Who Are They? The Stafford Brothers are house DJs working for a hip-hop-focused label. They’re both focused on making club records, so the partnership does make sense. The Stafford Brothers aren’t popular in the States, but they do have a name in Australia. They had their own television series, host a radio show and have a double-platinum selling single in the country with “Hello.”

Where’s The Album? They’re “Australia’s No. 1 DJ’s.” The Stafford Brothers are eating off that Australian dollar. They’ll be fine without dropping an album in the United States.

T.RONE

Year Signed: 2013
Noteworthy Releases: “Hello Love (F.U.)”

Who Is He? T.RONE rose to fame thanks to the sparse sensuality of “Hello Love (F.U.)”…

Where’s the Album? …but squandered any hype with his string of comparatively stale releases. It’s always odd reading Birdman’s signing statements after the fact: “When Slim and I heard ‘Hello Love (F.U.)’ on Miami’s 99Jamz, we knew we had made the right decision. Talent like that doesn’t come along too often.”

W3 The Future

Year Signed: 2013
Noteworthy Releases: Self-titled EP

Who Are They? It’s an international pop rap teenage trio. There’s the fact the Black Eyed Peas’ manager discovered them, but nothing much after that. YMCMB wanted to diversify, and W3 The Future fulfilled that desire.

Where’s The Album? The ambition ended up biting the label back in 2014. WTF’s production company Grassroots Productions sued Young Money for not paying up the $600,000 advance promised to help fund the album. The trio readied one only to get a frankly worded notice as a response: “Cash Money is not moving forward with this project.” When you sign with Birdman and sue him on top of it, chances are that album isn’t coming out.

As you’ve likely heard, the Clown Prince of Crime will make his frightening return to the big screen in 2016’s Suicide Squad, which is currently in production.

Today, in honor of the Joker’s 75th Anniversary, Suicide Squad director David Ayer tweeted the first official image of him.

JokerSS_553ae91ea35d84.91882163

That’s actor Jared Leto in the role. This photo is also the first official image of any of the characters in the film, which is due in theaters in 2016.

NO-bama: Tom Brady Skips Patriots’ White House Super Bowl Celebration

GettyImages-462351820-e1429812345645

The Super Bowl champion New England Patriots visited the White House on Thursday, but one key player was not in attendance.

That man was four-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady.

According to the Boston Herald, Brady will skipped out on the day’s events due to a scheduling conflict with a “family obligation.”

Meeting the president is a pretty big deal, but I guess it kind of loses its luster when you’ve done it three times already. I mean, here’s Tom having the time of his life while visiting the WH when the Pats won the Super Bowl back in the ’04 season.

IMG_0768_2_1-620x464

Happy as a clam.

I wonder what’s changed since then?

SIDE NOTE: There have been 43 presidents of the United States but only ONE Tom Brady. I think we all know who’s really getting to meet who here… or… not getting to, I guess.

GREEN   DAY   ADDRESSES   FANS

green_day_2015

After playing their first show in over a year and being inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, Green Day have once again proven themselves to be a band who treat their fans right. (See: Green Day being one of the only bands at the Rock Hall to stop and greet their fans first.)

The other day, Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong posted the following message to the band’s official Instagram account:

“dear you

I can’t express enough how much love is in my heart for all of you in our green day community.
for me to try to put it into words almost feels awkward.
sometimes I don’t always like to use the word “fan”. I think I can speak on behalf of me mike and Tre when I call you family or community. Because you all truly grew up together with us and shared this journey together.
this is more than an award. it’s the privilege to play music, write songs and follow this psychotic passion called rock n roll.

and We share this honor together. because honestly YOU ARE our rock n roll hall of fame.
idiot nation forever

rage and love

Billie Joe”

Ronda Rousey hits back at Wal-Mart for refusing to display her book

B4ngF6MIYAASO8u

Walk into just about any Wal-Mart and you’ll find a whole section filled with  MMA gear and accessories. You’ll have a harder time, however, finding UFC champion Ronda Rousey’s new memoir, “My Fight/Your Fight.” The store confirmed to Jezebel this week that it will not display the title on its in-store shelves, but instead only offer customers the opportunity to purchase the tome online.

Why? ESPN and the New York Post both reported last week the content was considered “too violent” for the store, which displays and sells copies of “American Sniper,” “Walking Dead” graphic novels and, oh yeah, shot guns. This is just the story of an Olympic athlete’s life and career. What could possibly be so offensive?

Wal-Mart spokesperson Danit Marquadt refused to expound upon the reasoning behind the store’s seemingly confusing decision.

“There’s a variety of factors that we look at when determining what items to offer our customers,” she said (via Jezebel). “At this point we’ve chosen to offer this particular title to our customers online. We’ll continue to watch how customers respond.”

Meanwhile, Rousey’s brushing Wal-Mart’s decision off like she did her last opponent, whom she submitted in 14 seconds. She posted a screen shot of an inaccurate headline and added the caption:

” ‘Success is the best revenge’ one of many lessons I learned from fighting that helped me fight through life’s battles off the mat and outside the octagon. @walmart is welcome to watch the success of this publication from the sidelines if they choose.

Amber Rose Says No to Dating, but Yes to More Booty Selfies

rs_600x600-150117145314-600.AmberRose1-jmd-011715

Amber Rose may have enjoyed that make out session with Amy Schumer at the MTV Movie Awards, but the model-actress tells me she’s not looking for real love any time soon.

She and husband Wiz Khalifa split in September about a year of marriage.

“I just want to focus on my kid and work,” Rose said.

Rose and the rapper’s son Sebastian Taylor Thomaz turned two in February.

“He’s big and he’s talking,” Rose boasted. “He knows everything. He’s so smart. He has full conversations. It will blow your mind.”

As for work, Rose will be seen in the romantic drama Sisterhood in theaters on next month and her book, How to Be a Bad Bitch, is set for release in October.

And not like it’s a big surprise, but Rose said she certainly hasn’t ruled out posting more booty selfies on Instagram.

“It just has to be organic,” she said of showing off her derriere. “I don’t plan those things. It just happens.”

If you can’t wait until “it just happens,” make sure to check out Rose in Schumer’s new music video for “Milk Milk Lemonade,” the Trainwreck star’s new booty-centric song parody.

Rose also isn’t afraid to post unfiltered pics of her backside on social media. She did just that about three weeks ago with a photo of herself wearing a bikini on a beach in Hawaii.

“Yaaaaaas dimples on the booty!” she wrote. “Lol #StandUpStraightSoIKnowitsReal #BeautifulBabiesGiveYouBeautifulDimples #MILFIN.”

Rihanna Slams Allegations

That She’s Snorting Cocaine in Newly Surfaced Videos:

”Any Fool Could See That’s a Joint”

rs_600x600-150414093515-600.Rihanna-Purple-Lips.jl.041415.4

It didn’t take long for the rumors to start after Rihanna posted a video on Instagram showing her partying with pals during Coachella.

Many began speculating that the singer was snorting cocaine during both clips, but RiRi took to social media to clear the air about the allegations.

The “Bitch Better Have My Money” singer slammed reports that she was using cocaine, and claimed that she was smoking marijuana instead.

“Your lame ass got some f–king nerve!!! Any fool could se that’s a joint that I’m basing with a cigarette,” she told one fan who prompted the accusations. “Who tF snorts tobacco??!! FOH witcho ‘never been to a rodeo so someone squeezing their nose means they’re doing coke’ lookin ass!!”

Scarlett Johansson Teases Her “Filthy” Avengers: Age of Ultron Co-Stars and Pressures Chris Evans to Have a Kid!

rs_634x1024-150413201411-634.Scarlett-Johansson-Avengers-LA.ms.041315

After taping an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! with Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner and Mark Ruffalo, the 30-year-old actress changed into a Stella McCartney dress and headed across the street for theAvengers: Age of Ultron world premiere at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre.

After signing autographs and taking selfies with fans, Johansson made her way over to speak with E!’s Catt Sadler. “Oh, I’m the lady of the hour?” she asked. “I thought we were talking about Hemsworth!”

Johansson’s Black Widow is the solo female member of the Avengers, which is both good and bad. “The best part about is…Well, we kind of all share a sort of down and dirty sense of humor, so we get a lot of laughs on set. Those guys are just filthy all of them! They’re just so filthy and wrong!” Johansson shared.

“Maybe that’s the worst part, also!” she added.

“Sometimes I’m like, ‘Guys, really?! Come on! Wanna tone it down? There’s a lady present.'” Johansson was pregnant with her daughter, Rose Dorothy Dauriac, when she began filming the follow-up to 2012’s The Avengers. “I had to plug the ears of the fetus,” she joked. “What are you gonna do?”

Celebrity Deathmatch Is the Latest Canceled Show to Get Revived

rs_560x415-150414112350-560-celebrity-deathmatch.jw.41415

Celebrity Deathmatch lives again. The MTV series originally ran from 1998-2002 and was revived on MTV2 from 2006-2007. The new version will again live on MTV2.

Celebrity Deathmatch creator Eric Fogeland Wasteland Entertainment are behind the new series. Paul Ricci and Chris McCarthy are also on board as executive producers. The new series won’t stray too much from the original concept: animated entertainment and pop culture star will battle to the death.

MTV2 also ordered Kingin’ With Tyga, a six-episode series about Tyga and his crew, and new talk show Uncommon Sense With Charlamagne tha God.

Celebrity Deathmatch is just the latest established series to get another chance at life. NBC recently announced a 13-episode Coach revival starring Craig T. Nelson. The network also has Heroes Reborn in the works, a new miniseries set in the world of Heroes starring Zachary Levi and Jack Coleman. The X-Files is coming back to Fox with David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson suiting up as Mulder and Scully once again following the success of 24: Live Another Day. Meanwhile, Showtime is planning a new season of Twin Peaks starring Kyle MacLachlan set 25 years after the show originally aired.

Alpha Male Madness 2015 Officially Begins:

Vote in Round 1 Now!

rs_560x415-150409130613-1024-alpha-male-madness.jw.4915

The time has finally come to appoint 2015’s TV alpha: voting officially begins today in Alpha Male Madness 2015!

This year, 63 men are out to finally steal the title from Supernatural‘s Jensen Ackles, the man who has won the tourney every single year since we launched it in 2009. Impressive. Very impressive.

But will he be able to hold off the competition yet another time? We’re about to find out! We asked, you nominated, and now the competition can officially kick off.

Voting in this round closes on Wednesday, April 15 at 5 p.m. PT, and remember, you can vote as many times and as often as you’d like. So that means that if there’s more than one nominee from your favorite show (like Supernatural, The Walking Dead or The Vampire Diaries, to name a few!), you don’t have to choose between your favorite leading men. Phew.

And you can spread the word to vote to your family, friends and fellow fans by tweeting @kristindsantos using the #AlphaMaleMadness hashtag!

Alright, get a stretch or two in then grab some snacks and find a comfy seat because it’s finally time to vote!
